Dude will make someone a wonderful dog. He was obviously in a very bad situation in his previous life. He was beaten, underfed, and under loved. Even though he has been through a lot, Dude remains loving, kind, and eager to please. He wants nothing more than to curl up in a human lap and get hugs and affection. He is surprisingly trusting. So far, he is good with men, women, and children. He has been very gentle with my 4 month old baby. He is easy to train and already knows and responds to, “kennel up, sit, off, go outside, and leave it.” I think that he will do well with more training. When we have had him on a leash, he is still tough to handle. With practice, I would bet that he would be good at leash behavior too. He is very food motivated and routinely runs to his crate wagging his tail in hopes of getting food or a treat. He is good with my other dogs and has started to play with them nicely. He would not do well living with a cat though. He is very interested in prey and a cat would be on his menu. Although he is about 7 years old, he is still very active. He enjoys running around our large yard hunting and interacting with the other dogs. When inside, he is getting more and more calm. He still has nervous energy, but this will probably eventually dissipate. Dude has integrated quickly into our home and is on his way to being someone’s cherished pet. He seems healthy and is heart worm negative. He is currently living in Asheville, NC.
