Jeb ~ SC

Jeb is a super-affectionate 65-pound ball of love and energy.  He came to the rescue from a shelter extremely underweight and neglected.  We believe he probably was kept in a kennel and had never been inside a house before, but he has made phenomenal progress with his foster parents and his “sister,” Shelby.

We think Jeb is probably between six and eight years old, but he has a lot of energy and needs (and loves) regular exercise.  His favorite activity is snatching up a tennis ball and romping around with it.  He has a lot of personality, and he will melt your heart when he gives you his “love” stare with his big brown eyes.  He is very comfortable and loving with Shelby, our two year old female GSP, but he sometimes has trouble getting along with male dogs.  We think he was a former hunting dog, so he is extremely prey-oriented and would not do well in a home with cats or small dogs.  However, he is very uneasy around guns, so hunting with him would not be a possibility.  Jeb tends to be shy around children at first, but he warms up and plays well with them once he gets to know them.

He is crate-trained and, with a few incidents here and there, house-broken.  Jeb is neutered, up to date with all his shots, and heartworm negative.  It has been amazing how quickly he has learned commands like “come”, and “kennel up” but he needs a patient family who will continue to work with him on manners and on how to be a house dog.  Jeb is one of the most loving and eager-to-please dogs I have come across, and he will be a wonderful pet for someone who can appreciate his fun-loving, happy personality.

If you are interested in adopting Jeb, please complete an application and contact his foster mom, Elizabeth.
