Hi folks, I’m Hugo and I really want to find my forever home! I’m only about 2
years old but have had a rough life so far.

When I arrived at SEGSP I was very thin, had bad scar tissue from a chemical burn on
my back, an open wound on my leg, and severe trauma to my hip and pelvis. And to
top it off, I caught kennel cough at the shelter! However SEGSP always looks on the
bright side and I was heartworm negative, they had a special doctor who agreed to
help me and I like other dogs and don’t mind cats, so they were hopeful I would
someday be all better and find a great home.

I know in my heart that’s true – so far so good! I’ve had my surgery (for my hip as
well as being neutered), I’m no longer on antibiotics and pain meds and feel great,
and my foster Mom said I’m such a sweet boy that she’ll be able to find me the best
home ever…no more lonely, painful days!

I’ve been really lucky that I’ve been helped by a wonderful Vet, a temp foster Mom
Virginia and my awesome foster Mom Linda! I also love my foster canine siblings so
it would be great to have a home with other dogs to play and romp with. I have to
be careful when playing though so I don’t accidentally tear my scars when rolling in
the grass so I have a vest I wear when my scars get irritated that protests me.

Because of my former injuries, I don’t have full use of my hind leg, but it doesn’t
stop me from doing anything and doesn’t hurt. I’m not as active as most young
GSPs…I’m pretty calm, however I do spend a lot of time outside. Love to play! I’ve
even gained all the muscle back in my injured hip and if I must say so myself, I

I’m very sweet, love to be outside, am good in the house, come when you call me and
will even go in a crate – I think I’m perfect J. I’m used to coming and going
outside as I please using what everyone calls a dog door and I love it. I don’t much
care for hunting, so my foster Mom says I’m not a flight risk which makes me even
more perfect. But she also says in a new environment it’s better if you keep an eye
on me in the back yard just in case.

I adore my people, but sometimes I get a little cautious of new people and I also
don’t like loud trucks – I just go and hide but I don’t run off. I do like rides in
a car. I haven’t been tested with kids yet and my cat test was only done in the
shelter, but my foster Mom thinks I would be fine with them.

If you’re interested in adopting me, please complete a SEGSP Rescue adoption application (if you haven’t already) and email my foster Mom Linda.

P.S. I’m a 2 year old adult that’s neutered and up-to-date on all vaccines so my
adoption fee is $375
