In Memory of
our beloved GSPs
2012
We don’t always receive notice when an alumna passes away, especially one from 2011, so when we learned of Magie’s death (formerly Sue, in back with her brother) we insisted on doing a memorial post. Here is her story…
Magie came to rescue in December of 2011 and was fostered by our volunteer Lissa. When she came to rescue she had mammary tumors that were removed when she was spayed while in rescue. She was adopted by Pat and Bob in June of 2012 and sadly they said goodbye on 12/12/12 and her ashes are on their mantle with their other beloved dogs’ urns. From Pat, “As I remember, she was used for breeding but when her previous owners found she had cancer, they gave her away. Of all our GSPs, we found her to be the most loving, alert, sweetheart we've ever had. She got along with everyone, even the cats, and was always willing to cuddle on the couch with anyone at a moment's notice. She was a perfect family member. I found one picture of her and Meister barking at something through the fence. Since we have all sorts of critters out here, there's no telling what they were barking at but they were having fun. Meister is in front, Magie is behind him. They were buddies from the beginning. I doubt that she had ever seen goats or chickens before so she might have been barking at them. I don't remember what made us take her to the vet but she must have become ill or her cancer spread even more. I do remember our vet telling us that her cancer would only progress and she would get worse. As always, it was a miserable day but we had her cremated and kept her ashes; she'll always have a home with us and she will always be loved.” |
