Odie

6/20/2025

Congratulations to the Turner family on the adoption of sweet Odie last weekend. Odie’s former owner was elderly and having health issues and had to rehome him. He lived his whole life in a large barn/garage and is now going to be part of the Turner family, loved and spoiled. Thank you to his fosters, Loretta and David, who took such great care of him and found his perfect forever family! #adopted #happy #segsprescue

Harley

6/20/2025

Harley did it – he convinced his foster family that they should keep him and love him forever. But word has it he didn’t have to try hard, they were absolutely on board! Congratulations to Harley and the Deaguilera family on a successful foster fail! #fosterfailfriday #adopted #segsprescue

May

6/17/2025

Congratulations May!  She has chosen Julia as her new mom over the weekend.  May came to rescue after being brought to a shelter in NC as a stray.  Her future is very bright with her new family.  A big thank you to Gabe for fostering sweet May – we have amazing volunteers!

Mr Jiggs

6/13/2025

Mr. Jiggs (top left) is home!  He was having so much fun with his foster mom Gabrielle and his canine siblings Toby and Stef, that he decided… why go anywhere else?!

Gabrielle said Jiggs is the perfect addition to their family.  Congratulations everyone – another foster “fail/success”!

Remi

f we haven’t thanked our financial supporters lately… THANK YOU!  And Remi (GA) thanks you.  She really gave us all a scare when she sat on something causing a serious puncture-wound that tore an artery and caused significant blood loss. And when emergencies happen, if we don’t have the funds to cover it, well…   But the good news is that Remi is much better and is also announcing her foster-fail success today – YAY!

Remi’s foster mom Leanne said, “Remi is recovering really well. She sure gave us a scare! She is eating and drinking and going to the bathroom. She takes her meds easily - she is on an antibiotic, an anti-inflammatory, and a pain pill. She doesn't seem to be terribly sore from her surgery. She's in a cone and on bed rest with only leash walks to go potty for two weeks. That's been a bit hard because she wants to run and play already.  She has some staples at the surgery site that will have to be removed in a couple of weeks, but other than that, it's just meds and rest. I will donate to help offset this bill, and my mom says she will donate, too. I really thought this was going to be a no-cost rescue for y'all, as she had been fully vetted immediately prior to coming into rescue.  I'm really bummed that this happened but am SO glad they were able to repair the torn artery and that she's ok.”

Congratulations to Leanne, Paul and of course, Remi on their successful foster-fail.  If you’d like to join our group of financial supporters, please go to https://www.segsprescue.org/donate.html and THANK YOU

Peanut (Buddy)

6/13/2025

Peanut, now Buddy, has had a rocky road in rescue, but he’s FINALLY home for good! And since it’s Foster Fail Friday, here you go… Barbara said, “We finally have our forever dog. We were fostering him and knew he would be a perfect fit, so he is our happy failure. 😊 This guy is so calm, doesn’t jump on furniture (new twist for us) and is a perfect companion. He’s gotten my husband up and moving (he had surgery) and doing some short walks. Win-win! He’s also excellent on a leash – someone loved and trained him in his early life. We are all in love and he is such a good boy! Congratulations Barbara, Lou and Buddy! Can you feel our happy dance?! #fosterfail

Hope

6/11/2025

Hope had a great weekend, meeting and falling in love with her forever family and new sibling, SEGSP alum Remington.

A big thank you to our Alabama State Coordinator, Beth, who helped transport Hope for her meet and greet and immediate adoption.  And of course, a huge thank you to Hope’s foster mom Jenny!  It was Jenny’s second time fostering for SEGSP and her first non-foster-fail 😊

Hope’s new mom said, “She is doing great! The perfect little addition to our family!”

Congratulations everyone – it’s a happy day!

Belle

6/10/2025

Belle, now Lily is home! And we could not be happier.   Her new family said, "We would have kept her beautiful name, Belle, but our daughter is also Belle, which we saw as a good omen during the adoption process! We chose Lily to keep a familiar L sound for her.  After a 12-hour road-trip home from Tampa to the Blue Ridge mountains in Georgia, Lily is where she was always meant to be, with her forever brother, Bruno. They got along so well from the start, they are both so kind and cute…and full of energy!  Lily went through many hands before landing with us, but the wonderful SEGSP coordinator, Linda, as well as her foster parents, Laura and Drew, did an amazing job giving her stability, training and love. Laura and Drew, we know how hard it was to say goodbye, thank you for trusting us! And keep fostering, because you are amazing." The Bonke family

Congratulations everyone!

Toby

6/6/2025

Toby (blue collar) has found his forever family, and he is super excited!  He now has a new sister, Bindi, who he plays with and a new home and yard to explore.  Thank you so much to his foster mom Paige, who graciously fostered Toby for over 4 months during his heartworm treatment and spent a lot of time going through applications to find the right home for him.

Congratulations to Toby and the Gouge family!

Marvin

6/4/2025

Marvin, aka Quinn, is HOME!  After a couple weeks of wiggling his way into their hearts, it’s official - he will be staying with his foster family forever.

His dad Marty said, “He’s eating good, sleeping well, loving everyone, and it’s the first GSP I’ve been around that likes to fetch a tennis ball. Planning on renaming him Quinn, a nice Irish name. He responds just to our voice so I don’t think that will be a problem. He settled in so easily with us. He loves Gus, our GSP and we have had no aggression from either, just hard playing with tails a wagging. I have two eight-year-old grandchildren living next door and he has been perfect with them when they have come over. And anytime he needs a break he goes and lays in his crate and takes a nap.”

Good boy Quinn!  And congratulations to Mary, Carol, Gus and Quinn!
