Murph has two important announcements—she has a new name, Piper, and a new family, the Slones.   Well, not exactly new, but she has decided to stay with her foster family forever and they couldn’t be happier!

Her mom said, “Piper has made herself right at home and we wouldn’t have it any other way. She absolutely loves her human siblings and is also the “baby sister” to our old gal, Bella! She is really owning the role of being the “baby” in the family. She is such a brat and I truly mean that in the sweetest way. She is spoiled rotten and does what she wants when she wants while getting all the praises!! She is such a good and well behaved girl! She quickly took over big sister’s bed in front of the window and loves watching for squirrels in the front yard. Bella doesn’t mind- we set her up a new space in front of the other window and they share them both! She also waits patiently at the window for the bus to bring her human siblings home every afternoon so they can go out and play! 

I knew the moment I picked her up she was going to be ours forever. She settled in so quickly and you would think she has lived here since birth! We couldn’t be happier. We are so grateful for Mandy and everyone we have encountered through the rescue. Mandy has been so attentive and supportive throughout this entire journey and has made sure Piper has gotten everything she could possibly need. We are so smitten and already can’t imagine life without her!”

We never tire of great stories like this even our SEGSP pups find their perfect families.  And this seems to be just that!   Congrats to all!

Dexter is so pleased to announce that his foster family is now his forever family.  His mom, Denise, wrote, "Dexter has been a wonderful addition to our family from the very beginning.  We knew within just a few days he was a keeper. He is sweet, affectionate, well-mannered, and full of the playful energy that makes GSPs so special. While he can be a bit stubborn when it comes to basic commands, he has done very well with training and continues to learn every day. Dexter especially loves spending time outdoors chasing birds and squirrels, chewing on sticks, and exploring the yard. His older brother is still adjusting to the puppy energy, but enjoys playing tug-of-war and keep-away when the mood strikes. We are incredibly happy Dexter came into our lives and look forward to many adventures with him ahead."

We are so grateful to the Dunco family for fostering for SEGSP and for adopting Dexter. He loves his new GSP brother (and twin) Cooper, so much and they keep everyone entertained playing tug of war.  It sounds like such a great fit and we couldn't be happier!  Congrats to all.

Our sweet puppy Maverick (far right.) is getting lots of additional attention and having so much fun in his foster home with Benito and Beth since his brother Rooster was adopted. So much fun, that he’s decided he’s not leaving! YAY!

Beth said, “Maverick decided early on he wasn't going to be just a foster puppy. He stole our hearts and settled into the pack with our 4 other dogs almost immediately. We're so happy to make it official and become his forever paw-rents! We absolutely adore Maverick!”

We have happy news to end the day… Dolly has done it – she found her forever home!  Dolly’s foster mom Loretta said she’s doing great and gets along with their dog and kitties.  YAY Dolly!

This Mother’s Day we are celebrating a new addition to the Madison family! 

They said… Boone is HOME!

That’s right — their very first foster fail, and we couldn’t be happier!

Boone (black) quickly stole the hearts of his new family — including his new fur siblings, Sadie (left) and Gunner (right). These three are now best buds spending their days playing tug-of-war, chasing the ball in the backyard, going on walks and snuggling on the couch.

The Madison's shared: “We all just love Boone and are so happy he came into our lives.”

And Boone, we couldn’t be happier either. What a great match!

​Harry didn’t have to go far to find his forever home, it’s with his foster mom, Ashley, and he’s staying put.  And with all this land and opportunity for adventures, along with an awesome GSP sibling, who can blame him?

His new mom, Ashley, said, “Harry came into our lives as a foster, but it didn’t take long to realize he was home. After losing our 14-year-old hound earlier this year, I knew I wanted another GSP - but with my current girl Lady being 13, I also knew a puppy wasn’t the right fit. There are so many amazing dogs who end up in rescue simply because people underestimate the energy and commitment the breed requires (though that wasn’t Harry’s story), and it felt right to give one of them a home.

Harry has been everything we could have hoped for and more. He is the sweetest dog - he just wants to be with his people. He’s always happy, and somehow manages to make everyone he meets just as happy. He loves to please, play fetch, crawl in your lap, and still has that classic GSP drive - he loves to run and hunt for birds - but at 8 years old, his energy level is absolutely perfect.

He has settled into farm life like he was made for it. He loves running the property, playing in the creek, and riding along for chores. And the biggest stamp of approval? Lady (who can be selective) loves Harry. Honestly, everyone who meets him does.”

Harry, it sounds like you are exactly where you are meant to be.  We are so happy for you, Ashley, and Lady, too!

​It’s Foster Fail Friday and Gus has a new name! Yup, he’s decided that he really loves his foster home and they are calling him Sigfried, aka Sig… a nice German name. He was found as a stray and when he arrived in rescue he had flea dermatitis, bi-lateral eye infections, ear infections, healing bite wounds on his legs and elbow calluses (probably from laying on concrete) but he healed quickly.
His mom Ellen told us, “Yes, we are complete Foster Fails and happy for it. Sig is a delight! Thank you for all you do! Our first foster turned into a failure. We honestly had no intentions of having a dog right now but we were looking forward to helping with the foster program and getting the GSPs to their forever homes. Well, along came Sig. 

He is a true GSP. Glued to us constantly. Try and get a little yoga in or some stretching, nope, Sig is right there all up in your space. Leave the house for a grocery run, he sits by the front window waiting on your return. He gets along so well with other dogs. He will give a growl and a bark if you walk by him but once he meets you properly, friends for life! He greets everyone who comes to the door with a tail wag and a nudge of the hand for some scratches. 

Whoever had this dog before us did an amazing job. Once he learned his new name his recall when he is off-leash is spot on. He sits for snacks, drops his toy by the door before his walks and goes to his bed when told to. When he hears a child's voice his ears perk up and he looks around, so it's very obvious he was raised with children. We are so lucky to have this bundle of energy!”

And Sig is lucky to have found you! Congrats everyone!

Duke has done it… he’s found his forever home!  Duke came to SEGSP from a shelter in AL. He had some skin issues and hookworms and was missing a couple teeth with others’ worn down.  But that didn’t stop Duke from having a blast at his foster home while he healed and soaked up the love.
A HUGE thank you to his foster mom Stephanie for all she’s done for Duke.  And congratulations to the Burns family, who are a perfect fit for Duke.  We look forward to updates as he settles in…
