Molly

Big news to end the day… Molly, in TN, is now Birdie, in TN FOREVER!!! We received this from her foster, now forever, mom Lindsay:

“I couldn't be more excited to report in on Birdie girl!  When I agreed to foster her, I truly thought this would be the time that I served as a temporary home for a sweet girl who needed some rehab and love.  She was in such rough shape when I met her...I actually shudder to even think about that day and don't even want to remember how bad it was.  She had been bred nearly to death and looked like she'd never been loved on for even one second.  But when I put her in my car, I realized she was as gentle as she could possibly be and seemed like she would cooperate with just about anything, bless her angel heart.

I could go on and on about how easy she was from day 1, but I truly couldn't believe it.  I kept forgetting I even had an extra dog because she just fit right in at my house immediately!  She is truly the calmest dog inside the house, but then she is an amazing tracking bird dog the second she bolts out the door!  I have no idea how old she is and I will never know what she's been through, and it breaks my heart to even think about it. But, once again, I know for a fact that these rescue dogs are the best dogs on the whole planet and they are innately grateful for their new homes.

Birdie is yet another ambassador for rescue.  She's incredibly sweet and loving and obedient and SO easy to get along with.  She lets the incredibly rowdy Doberman run the show and she's never even snapped at him despite him annoying her incessantly, and she easily won over my very choosy Dixie, which I did not expect.  She's the best addition to my house and I'm so so so so so thankful that SEGSP saved her!”

And Lyndsay, WE are so thankful that you agreed to foster, love her, and give her an amazing life that she wouldn’t have had otherwise. Congratulations!

Otis did it!  He convinced his foster family to adopt him!

His mom Connie said, “We are very happy to be able to give him a home and a second chance.  I’ve mentioned in prior communication that he has had leash and fence reactivity since we picked him up from the shelter. His prey drive is also intense; I've been working with a trainer I hired and that has helped. To get to the next step, Otis left today for a 2-week board and train.  The goal is to open a bigger world for Otis, keep him challenged and happy.”

WOW!  Thank you, Connie, for all you’re doing for Otis, especially giving him the love he deserves.

Melvin

Melvin has completed his rescue journey and has moved on to his forever journey with his new family!

Melvin came to SEGSP in May and was very sick with kennel cough. He was found in Mobile, AL and a Good Samaritan took him to the City of Mobile Animal Shelter who contacted SEGSP.  A big shout out to Stacey from the shelter for contacting us and of course Missy and Chuck for stepping in to temp foster and start his healing process! Also, a BIG thank you to Michelle for temp fostering him through his healing (about 2 months)! Finally, we are so thankful to Denisse and her family for fostering Melvin and helping him find his forever home.

Congratulations Melvin, Warna and Vinnet!

Rebel

Happy news for a Monday morning… Rebel has officially found his forever home!  We are incredibly grateful to his foster mom, Lindsay, and her family for loving this sweet boy, preparing him for adoption, and most importantly, taking the time to choose just the right family for him.
Lindsay shared: “We loved fostering Rebel and enjoyed his sweet personality. The Cooper family was the perfect fit for him so that he got a teenage boy to be his own person, share a bed with, and enjoy lots of fetch and games. We are so happy for Rebel and his forever family and know they will love him even more than we did.”
And really, could we ask for anything more?
Rebel’s new life comes with a loving family, a doggy sibling, plenty of adventures ahead and, best of all, a teenage boy to call his very own. We have a feeling there are going to be a whole lot of games of fetch, shared beds, and memories made between those two.
Fostering is such an important part of rescue. Our fosters don’t just give these dogs a place to stay. They love them, learn who they are, help them become the best versions of themselves, and then help us choose the family where they truly belong. We simply couldn’t do this without people like Lindsay and her family.
Thank you, Lindsay, for giving Rebel everything he needed to get to this moment. And congratulations to the Cooper family - we are so excited for all of Rebel’s future adventures.
Happy forever, Rebel. You’re home.

Dublin now Callie

Dublin, now Callie, is HOME!  From her new mom…

“Callie has transitioned to her new home exceptionally well. She very quickly asserted herself as the QUEEN, and she has definitely made it clear that she is the boss when it comes to our four-legged children!

Fletcher, our six-year-old GSP, has apparently decided that the easiest way to live with the queen is simply to lay down and let Callie have her way. She's bossy enough and she's going to get her way eventually anyway - so why fight it?

Callie is incredibly smart and has picked up on her basic manners very quickly. She knows "hold," "out," "sit," and "come," although "wait" is definitely her least favorite-especially when it's time to eat! Patience is apparently not one of the queen's virtues.

She loves being wherever the boys are and has quickly become part of the family routine. She has already been to baseball, football, and even the school pick-up line. Wherever the action is, Callie wants to be right in the middle of it.

She absolutely loves to snuggle and, within a single day, had already chosen her favorite person. She may be a little high-maintenance, but she knows exactly what she wants-and she certainly isn't afraid to let you know!

Callie came into our lives like a hurricane, bringing plenty of personality, energy, and a little bit of chaos along with her. But honestly, we wouldn't have it any other way. She has settled into our family beautifully, and it's hard to imagine our home without her now.”

Congratulations to Callie and her new family – it’s a happy day!

Dennis aka Dexter

Picture
Dennis, aka Dexter (on right), is officially home and joining SEGSP Alum River, who the Rhoades family adopted back in 2024. We couldn’t be happier to see these two rescue pups together!

A very special thank you to his foster mom Jennifer, who is definitely going to miss this sweet boy. While saying goodbye is never easy, she knows Dexter is going to an incredible home where he is already so loved and cherished.

Happy tails, Dexter! We are so excited to watch you start this next chapter with your forever family.

Congratulations, Rhoades family! We know Dexter and River are going to make the very best pair.

Luke

Well, it looks like Luke had a plan all along. He moved in with the Price family as a foster… and decided pretty quickly that he wasn’t going anywhere.

We are so excited to officially announce that Luke has been adopted by his foster family!

His new mom shared:

“We are beyond excited to adopt Luke. We have loved getting to watch him grow so much over the last couple of weeks. From morning cuddles with mom to an extra set of helping paws with dad outside, he quickly found his place in our family.

He has the purest, most playful heart and is the best brother to our girl, Rain. We could not imagine a life without him!”

And apparently, Luke couldn’t imagine life without them either.

A huge THANK YOU to the Price family for opening their home to foster Luke, giving him the love and guidance he needed, and ultimately realizing that the home he was waiting for was the one he was already in.

Happy forever, sweet Luke! You’re officially HOME!
