Hoss

After spending all five years of his life on a hunting plantation, Hoss suddenly found himself needing a new beginning when the property was sold. Along with his siblings, he was taken in by a local Humane Society, and before long, he found his way to SEGSP Rescue.

What happened next is one of our favorite kind of adoption stories.

Hoss landed in foster care with Kenneth, one of our amazing volunteers. Kenneth opened his home to Hoss, offering him a safe place to land while he waited for his forever family. As it turns out, Hoss didn’t have to wait very long at all.

Somewhere along the way, Kenneth decided to change things up a bit. Instead of being Hoss’s foster home, he became Hoss’s forever home.

When asked how things were going, Kenneth told us:

“Hoss is at home. He fits with me and all his brothers. He is learning how to be a dog again, not just a tool in somebody’s toolbox. He has his own chair, and I think he wants to stay here.”

One of Kenneth’s earliest updates melted our hearts:

“Last Monday when I picked him up, he was scared of everything. In one week he has become a Velcro puppy. He is glued to me.”

And the photos say it all. Hoss can often be found snuggled up with his 16-year-old Lab sister, Samantha, enjoying the comfort, security, and love every dog deserves.
