WOW, that was fast! Rammer, in FL on the right, moved to a new foster home a week ago and they fell in love, and he is now “adoption pending!” Rammer’s new name will be Bailey and here’s what his soon-to-be dad said about him…
“He’s doing great. We have filed an adoption application. He is a perfect fit here. We are calling him Bailey. He is a turnkey GSP. Hard to believe that someone could abandon this true gentleman. Bailey has great manners and has obviously been loved and had some training at some point. Our Tip has been lonely since she lost her Vizsla sister last fall. Bailey has perked her up and become her best friend already.” YAY for Bailey and the Shellhouse family! Congratulations – we can’t wait for the adoption to be official! #baileyishome #gspforever #gsplove Adoption Update: Kara Found Her Forever Home!
We’re thrilled to share that Kara found her forever home this past weekend with the Luebchow family — a very big congratulations to all! Kara came into rescue from the shelter and truly thrived in foster care, thanks to the loving dedication of her foster dad Jamie, who gave her the space and support she needed to shine. We’re so grateful for everything he did to help her on her journey. Wishing Kara and her new family a lifetime of love, snuggles, and happy adventures! #AdoptDontShop #GSPRescue #HappyTails #ForeverHome Another new alumni on Sunday Alum Day! Ember is another successful foster fail with the Bunnell family.
Her family said, “Ember has been the most unexpected yet incredible addition to our family! We lost our oldest dog a year ago, who was the glue to our other two fur babies - one a 6 yr old GSP and one a 10 year old black lab. Ember brought a new level of adventure and fun to their lives and equally to ours as well. She will spend all of her days sunbathing (her favorite) in the backyard, in stand-offs with neighborhood squirrels, going for long walks/runs, and playing with her older siblings. She has more personality in her pocket pointer body than we could have expected when we agreed to foster her! She’s full of humor, snuggles, and energy. A true GSP and Velcro dog at heart. She fits perfectly into our family.” YAY! Congrats to Ember and the Bunnell family! #emberishome #gspforever #gsplove Happy Sunday Alum Day! One of our new alumni, Kona, is home! Her foster dad Jorge found an amazing home for her with the Congdon family, who are also SEGSP volunteers.
Kona’s mom said, “After the heartbreaking loss of Lily (2025) and Gretchen (2023) both SEGSP alumni, we decided to expand our family and provide Rosie (2024) with a new companion. We were thrilled to be chosen to provide Kona with her forever home. Our heartfelt thanks go to Jorge for fostering this sweet girl. Kona is bursting with GSP energy, happiness, and affection - she is a cuddle bug. She is acclimating to her new environment, learning to swim, and picking up basic commands. One of her favorite activities, apart from counter surfing, is standing guard at the windows and sliding doors—now adorned with her nose smudges—watching for squirrels. She then dashes outside at lightning speed to the oak tree, only to be disappointed when the squirrels vanish from her reach. We are so grateful to have Kona as part of our family. Our heartfelt gratitude to SEGSP for the amazing work you do!” Thank you, Jorge, for all you’ve done for Kona (this is his 2nd foster dog for SEGSP)! #konaishome #gspforever #gsplove Congrats to Birdie (formerly Lucky) who found her forever home without even searching! Yeah, you got that right, another successful foster fail!
Her mom Elease said, “Birdie came to us in April with kennel cough and a huge personality that made you forget you were working through some issues. We house trained and taught her basic commands. She was fearful of men, but thanks to the mailman and pool man showing consistent calm, she began to trust them. The more I saw her wagging tail and extreme happiness every time I turned around the more I felt her tugging at my heart. Every day was like doggy daycare for her and my other GSP, Rivers. I could not imagine life for them without each other. She was the GSP that got the memo about daily cuddles and belly rubs. One day Birdie got in the pool and rested on the float with my husband. That’s when I knew she was home. Every day is a blessing with my love Bird.” Hope had a great weekend, meeting and falling in love with her forever family and new sibling, SEGSP alum Remington.
A big thank you to our Alabama State Coordinator, Beth, who helped transport Hope for her meet and greet and immediate adoption. And of course, a huge thank you to Hope’s foster mom Jenny! It was Jenny’s second time fostering for SEGSP and her first non-foster-fail Hope’s new mom said, “She is doing great! The perfect little addition to our family!” Congratulations everyone – it’s a happy day! Ivy Jane has found her forever home and we couldn’t be happier! A humongous thank you to Christy and Jason, who did an amazing job with their very first SEGSP foster dog. They said, “Thank you so much for allowing us to foster Ivy. She was a wonderful dog and a sweetheart! She had my whole heart. I truly miss her but so glad we found her a forever home.”
Ivy came to rescue as a stray and when she was spayed, the Vet said he had never seen a uterus and ovaries so bad and she must have had countless puppies. Jason said they felt so bad for her and the life she had lived so far and all they could do was give her the best and let her experience what she missed all these years. Well, they did. And they found the perfect home for her! Congratulations to Ivy, Regina and Jimmy! Ivy is the only dog in the household so will be totally spoiled and loved. She even started the long trip from MS to FL in luxury in a cyber truck with two baskets from Christy and Jason (bottom left). Goose (TN) has officially flown the coop… right into the hearts and home of his perfect forever family!
We’re thrilled to announce that Goose has been adopted by Glenn and Suzanne. This sweet boy has truly hit the jackpot with a home full of love, fun, and endless tennis balls. Goose now has a half-acre fenced backyard to chase balls to his heart’s content (Suzanne is an avid tennis player, so the supply is endless!), a neighborhood full of friendly dogs, a lake just steps away for swims and kayaking, and two humans who believe a dog should be part of everything they do. Whether it’s snuggling on the couch, going for neighborhood walks, or possibly even joining Glenn in the field, Goose is now living a dream life built just for him. But Goose’s story wouldn’t be complete without the incredible Murphy family, who fostered him with so much love, patience, and care. They prepared him for this very moment—and Glenn and Suzanne made sure to say: “We are so grateful to be chosen as Goose’s forever family. And the Murphys will always be considered part of that family. This is a dream come true for us and we couldn’t be happier.” From their first email, it was clear how much Glenn and Suzanne had to give—and how much they were ready to welcome another GSP into their lives. After losing their beloved GSP Holly in 2022, they waited until the time felt right, and Goose turned out to be that “Diamond in the Ruff” they’d been hoping for. Congratulations, Goose! We couldn’t have dreamed up a better forever for you. We’re thrilled to share that our beautiful girl Riley has found her perfect match—congrats to her new dad, Brad!
Riley’s next chapter will be filled with adventure, companionship, and unconditional love. Brad is an avid hiker and nature photographer, spending over 10 miles a week exploring wooded trails right behind his home and hiking preserves across the Southeast. Riley will get to tag along on hikes near Lake Murray, weekend trips to the coast, and maybe even dip her paws in the pool or lake from time to time! When she’s not out exploring, Riley will enjoy a cozy, fenced backyard, a peaceful cul-de-sac with a field right across the street, and plenty of TLC from Brad (and visits from his close friend when he’s at the office). He described his dream dog as one who can go everywhere with him—and we know Riley is more than up for the job. She’s energetic, smart, and 100% trained from her time at board and train. And now she has a forever partner to help her thrive. We have no doubt you’ll find these two in the woods together, camera in hand and nose to the ground, looking for birds and soaking in all that nature has to offer. Happy trails, Riley. You’re home Max (aka Baron) was adopted by the Newkirk family! Thank you to John and Linda for fostering this sweet boy and getting him healthy and on the road to forever.
