🎉 Adoption Update! 🎉
Handsome Cedar (in the blue collar 💙) has found his forever family — the wonderful Weaver family in Florida! 🏡🐾 Cedar’s journey hasn’t been easy. When he arrived in rescue, he was healing from an injury to his hind leg and needed to undergo heartworm treatment. But this brave boy never lost his sweet spirit or wagging tail! 💪💛 Now fully healed and healthy, Cedar is living his best life surrounded by love, care, and plenty of adventures. We couldn’t be happier for him and his new family! ❤️ Thank you to everyone who helped Cedar along the way — your support makes happy endings like this possible! #SEGSPRescue #Adopted #HappyTails #GSPRescue #ForeverHome #RescueSuccess #HeartwormSurvivor 🎉 ADOPTED: Cash (now Remy)! 🎉
Remember Cash — the sweet boy who came into rescue emaciated, weighing only 33 pounds, and battling Parvo alongside his brother Waylon? Thanks to a caring Good Samaritan who found them and the amazing SEGSP community, this boy’s story now has a very happy ending. 💚 Now known as Remy, he’s thriving in his forever home! He just wrapped up a 3-week board and train program to master his basic training (smart boy!) and is even heading to group classes to keep up the good work. His family says he’s absolutely rotten in the best way — full of personality and energy — and that he fits right in. Remy and his new brother Sully are nearly inseparable and love keeping everyone on their toes. 🐾❤️ From fighting to survive to living his best life, Remy’s journey is a beautiful reminder of the difference love (and rescue!) can make. #SEGSPRescue #AdoptedAndLoved #RescueSuccess #GSPLove This is Phoebe Ann here (GA, 2 yo). My Foster Dad said you were asking how I was doing after my heartworm treatment. Well let me tell you, not being able to run for over two months is a real pain. Thankfully they are now letting me get back to being a GSP. I am not sure my friend Warner likes all my energy, but I like him. I have learned a lot here, when I first got here I did not like any treats or toys now I can hardly wait for new treats. I really like my carrots and freeze-dried sweet potatoes. I also have baskets of toys, I enjoy bringing them from the basement to upstairs. My Foster Mom puts them in a basket to make the room neat then Warner and I enjoy taking them out and putting them all over the house!!!!! I have also been working on my commands, I know the words NO, Leave IT, STAY, Come, and Shake. I have also learned all the words on the alarm system so if they open any door I know where to go to find them. As you can tell from the pictures I am enjoying life.
I know this started out as a Foster Home but if you don’t mind, I would like to make it my permanent home. Hope you enjoy the pictures. Phoebe Ann YAY Phoebe Ann – congrats on your “foster fail” success! And a BIG thank you to your foster-now-forever parents Glen and Marcela (and Warner) for fostering you through your heartworm treatment. This is officially their 3rd foster-fail success story We have GREAT news today… Helga is Home! Yup, she’s staying with her foster family, forever!
Her mom CJ said, “Yes—I’m 100% sure I want to adopt Helga and make her a permanent part of the family. I truly can't imagine her living with anyone else at this point. She’s settled in so well and has become my little shadow. I’m so thankful for the chance to foster her and now give her a forever home.” Congratulations to Helga and CJ – it’s a happy day Sweet Dixie has officially found her forever home with Lyndsay, and we couldn’t be happier for them both!
Originally meant to be “just a foster,” Dixie quickly worked her way into Lyndsay’s heart — and it’s easy to see why. This precious 7-year-old little pixie GSP has blossomed into the queen of her new farm, where she now rules lovingly (and patiently!) alongside her much bigger puppy brother, Rowdy. When Dixie first arrived in rescue, she spent her early days tucked under the stairs, unsure of her new surroundings. But as the days went by, she started resting on top of those same stairs — a quiet but powerful sign that she was beginning to feel safe, loved, and at home. Now, she’s thriving… she comes when called, obeys the invisible fence like a pro, knows how to shake, sit, and lie down for treats, kennels perfectly, and sleeps through the night like a little angel. She even recently claimed a new favorite spot to rest - proof that she knows she’s home for good. As Lyndsay shared, “I would’ve never expected to have a 7-year-old female GSP, but she’s a gift. I think God brings these dogs to us - especially rescue dogs.” We couldn’t agree more. Dixie truly deserves to stay in one place for the rest of her life, and she’s found that forever place with Lyndsay and Rowdy. Congratulations to this beautiful family - we’re so happy for you all! Gopher, now Cooper, is HOME!
Thanks to his awesome foster family, Cooper has found the perfect forever home with the Lougnane family. Cooper’s foster mom Anna said, “Again, I always love doing this and sending them to homes that are going to treat them right, Thanks for working with me on Mr. Gopher and helping us to get him where he needed to be for adoption. He's such a happy boy!” Cooper came to rescue as a stray and soon after had emergency entropion eye surgery. Luckily, his foster family was very observant and he recovered quickly. THANK YOU to Anna and Jason for all they did for Cooper! Congrats everyone! We missed posting this news for Foster Fail Friday but it’s too exciting to wait! Congratulations to Stella and her mom Leone – our new Foster Fail success story!
Stella came to rescue at about 8 years old and was heartworm positive. A few months ago, Leone hinted that her husband (Jack) was falling in love with Stella, so we had a heads-up. They have fostered for SEGSP 4 times, and this is their FIRST Foster fail Congrats to Stella and her new family! Fritz has found his forever home! This sweet boy’s journey began at a North Carolina shelter, but his luck quickly turned around when he was placed at Kanupp Kennels for training — the perfect kind of foster home!
A huge thank-you to Marty Kanupp for giving Fritz the skills, confidence, and love he needed to shine and discover just how wonderful life can be when someone believes in you. And of course, congratulations to Fritz and the Murphy family — it’s a perfect match and a truly happy day! We have happy news to share from our volunteer Catherine:
“David and I would like to announce that we have welcomed Dixie B. Bird to be a member of our family. We would like to thank Gail, Mandy, Linda, Jeff for allowing us to foster this sweet girl. We are grateful for Marty Kanupp and our friends at Kanupp Kennels for showing her patience, care and love to help her be the best. This is our first foster, and we quickly found out we "fell in love" or maybe we “fail in love” with this sweet girl. And she is a real beauty!” David & Catherine Bird Message from Dixie: “I would like to thank everyone that donated to the Dog Doll Fundraiser. I have helped my new Mom with all the donations that have come in, and I like to watch her sew. Sometimes I see her with a big smile and sometimes she has a little tear for those special ones dear to your heart. She loves making these Dog Dolls and spends many hours and thousands of stitches of love. I am now “quality control” manager and have helped pick up thread, glue eyes (maybe have eaten one or two), watch as she is packaging and they even know me at the local post office. I love my new “paw-rents” and they take me on a lot of walks and let me be near them all the time. I’m a lucky girl because I hear my Mom and Dad tell me how much they love me. Thank you and love to all my friends at SEGSP Rescue.” Mallard, the handsome GSP, arrived needing a little patience, and he found it with a human who knows a thing or two about commitment to the field—literally! His new dad is a professional ornithologist (a bird scientist!), which we think is the absolute best, most ironic fit for a dog named after a species of duck!
It was clear from day one that Mallard had found his forever flock. He is now thriving in his new life as a full-time field assistant, tackling new habitats and hiking trails. As you can see from these gorgeous mountain camping photos, He is the happiest, fluffiest adventure companion we could have imagined. Congratulations to Mallard and his dedicated human! This is what it’s all about. |
