Emmy has some wonderful news. She has found her forever family…right where she is…with her foster family, the Jants!
Her mom said, “We love these GSPs, they are like our kids. They are so loving and careful with elderly and kids. They love to be loved and petted, just what we want. Emmy keeps me young. She is a sweet dog. She makes us laugh all the time.” Emmy came to rescue having been chained to a post her whole life. She flourished in her foster, now forever home, learning the goodness of being a loved family pet very quickly. She will now enjoy the luxury of many camping trips and excursions in her family’s RV and she will leave her former life behind for one filled with nothing but love. Congrats to Emmy and congrats to the Jants! Jack is HOME! Jack came to rescue from a hunting camp with his 2 siblings, Bear and Sambo. All 3 were heartworm positive and Jack was the only one of the 3 that lived to find his forever home. We are just thrilled about Jack’s happy journey – and have no doubt he will have lots of adventures, fun and love for the remaining years on this earth.
His foster (now forever) parents Katie and Ryan said, “Jack came into our lives as a 2-week temporary foster while Doug, his original foster father, needed to take care of some things. We thought this would be a good way to experience the GSP breed for the first time. When we first got Jack, he was HW positive, experiencing extreme separation anxiety and really put our patience to the test. With his separation anxiety and because we couldn't give him adequate exercise due to the heartworms and HW treatment, for the first several months we had him, he required heavy doses of trazodone. This kept him in a very subdued state most of the time and we didn't like having to do that to him. Then, on one of our short walks with him, a stray dog followed us home and became part of our pack. We named her Daisy and she and Jack were quick friends. Slowly Jack started to get more exercise and became more comfortable in our home and, after a couple months, we were able to take his trazodone prescription way down and we could finally leave him at home with just Daisy. As of today, I can say that it is obvious Jack has found his home and pack and feels safe and secure knowing he will no longer have to hunt or live in a kennel outside like the typical working dog. He can enjoy his retirement. He has made a 100% improvement in his separation anxiety. He's able to stay at home without a crate and settles himself after a few barks (as long as Bob’s Burgers is playing on the TV in the background). He sleeps comfortably on the couch or wrestles with Daisy while me and my wife have been able to get our lives back to normal. We have had rescues before but never a breed as intense as a GSP, but we are grateful Jack has come into our lives and feels at home and safe.” Congrats Jack and Ryan (and the stray friend Jack brought home with him one day on their walk)! #ForeverGSP #GSPlove #GSPlife Hickory (GA) has been adopted!
He is living on a small cattle farm and going to work with his dad daily. He is now the assistant heavy equipment mechanic! Sounds like the best job ever! Congratulations to Hickory. Daisy is adopted!!
From her new mom, Melissa, “Just wanted to let everyone know that Daisy is safe and sound in Pensacola, FL and settling in. Here’s a couple of pictures. She’s a wonderful dog and I can’t wait to continue to get to know her and build a life long relationship! Thanks for everything you guys did to make this happen. Especially foster mom Vicky! ” Yes, thank you Vicky and congratulations to Melissa & Daisy. Enzo has made it official…he is staying with his foster, now forever, family! His mom Ashley said, “It only took him one week to win over our hearts. We knew immediately that he was family, and we are pretty sure Enzo wasn’t having it any other way either. He is every bit a crazy GSP but also the most lovable, playful, sweet, yet surprisingly lazy boy who loves his naps. He was exactly what was missing and we are loving every moment with him.”
Congratulations Ashley, John and of course Enzo – you are HOME! A very happy announcement for the new year… Ladybird, now Bryn, will be staying right where she is with David and his family. Ladybird came to rescue after being found as a stray in NC. She thrived in rescue, and they fell in love with her. She will have her happy ever after alongside her canine siblings Jesse and Newt.
We’re so happy for you Bryn – congratulations! Bud has found his forever home! Bud came to rescue not knowing anything other than kennel life. He was not neutered, had 2 masses on his chest and was heartworm positive. He has since been neutered, had the masses removed and completed 4 months of heartworm treatment. It’s been a long, but a very successful journey for Bud.
His foster mom Jennifer said, “What a bittersweet day! It’s hard to be sad about it though since we know Bud’s new family is going to love him immensely and provide him a great home! We were so amazed at how well he handled his new environment. He was ready! What a different dog he is today from when we picked him up almost 4 months ago at Kanupp Kennels. Our first foster experience was a wild ride and I’d be lying if I thought for a time or two that we may have bitten off more than we could chew. It was all totally worth it though! To know that my family helped Bud discover what life as a dog should be and to find him a perfectly matched home is a great way to start the new year! Much love to Bud, Jim, Ann, and Chloe as they start their new journey together.” Congrats everyone – what an awesome way to start 2024! |
