Boss (NC) is off to his new home (yes, his forever home) with his dog training dad and his sweet new mom.
His foster mom Vicki said, “Oh my sweet Boss Dog things aren’t going to be the same without your morning hugs, your silly grin and your perfect morning attitude. You came to me feeling broken and forgotten but you are leaving me with so much love and happiness in your heart and boy did we find the perfect parents for you to share it all with. Your new mom and dad were nothing but smiles as they pulled up and mom was waving out the window at you. You are getting the best of both worlds with your new parents, mom is going to spoil you rotten and probably give you more than your fair share of treats, toys and kisses. Your new dad is just like me, sweet boy and he is gonna keep you in shape, well trained and teach you how to be the best dog you can be. They both have felt the loss of a dog that they loved so much, so I need you to cherish them, kiss them when they feel sad, lay at their feet when they feel cold, offer your paw when they need a hand to hold and just show them how absolutely thankful you are that they chose you to give their hearts to over all the other dogs out there. I waited until they left before the tears started flowing, you were my man, my happiness and my joy during your time at my house and you my boy are going to be very missed, but my tears aren’t all bad, they are tears of joy knowing you just hit the lottery with this family and I can’t wait to hear all the happy updates. I love you Boss and remember you’ll always have me and that this isn’t goodbye because you are not leaving our family, it’s your new mom and dad that are gaining all of us as family. Go enjoy your new life being the only dog and soaking up all the love and attention I know your parents already have for you.” Thank you so much Vicki! And congrats to Boss, Steve and Diane! Lacey has found her forever home…right where she is, with her former foster mom, now forever mom, Sarah!
Sarah said, “It was not a hard decision to adopt sweet Lacey, and Matilda (Tilly), my boxer, would never have forgiven me if I didn’t! Matilda and Lacey were instant best friends and are inseparable. I knew she wasn’t going anywhere when I noticed the bond she and Tilly had made. Lacey loves morning snuggles and evening antics! Lacey doesn’t like to be left alone long so it’s a great thing she and Tilly go to work with me every day! Lacey is growing up with some kid goats and a calf named Moolinda and is affectionate to all things great and small.” What a perfect match! We are so happy for Sarah, Tilly and Moolinda, and especially for Lacey. Thank you, Sarah, for fostering. We couldn’t save the dogs we do without our awesome fosters! Congrats to Bucky on his new home!
From his new Dad, Logan, “We are so happy to have Bucky become part of our family! We haven’t been able to get a family picture with Bucky and all of us, but I have gotten plenty of Bucky and our other dog Dwight. Please see attached. Bucky has adjusted really well! He loves to play fetch and play with Dwight. We appreciate all that yall have done for Bucky.” Congrats to the happy family! Let’s start the week off with a SUPER happy announcement so beautifully told by our amazing foster volunteer, Vicki:
Dear Duke, Today is a new day, a fresh start, a clean slate, a new beginning with the most amazing dad a dog could ask for. You are already your dad’s whole heart; I saw it the minute he saw you and his smile lit up the world. The way he laughs at your ball obsession, the 100 questions he asked because his only concern is doing the best for you, the mini training session he asked for in the rain warmed my heart because I knew you were his only priority no matter what he had to endure, you would get what you needed. Your dad is so prepared for this journey with you, he has told his entire family, already sent your pictures to them all. This is not goodbye for us my handsome man because you and your new dad are my family now and I’m just a phone call away if you two need anything. We have already made plans for ongoing training for you, and he knows that you are welcome at my house should he ever need to leave town for work. You are gonna enjoy being a Marine dog, and you are about to learn what having an entire brotherhood of family is really about. You are entering into a family that only knows loyalty and commitment, a family that welcomes your need for structure, schedules, and routines because your dad is the same way. You have hit the absolute jackpot my boy and I could not be happier for you. I love you to the moon and back my handsome fetch maniac, enjoy your life, the hiking, the kayaks, the long walks and runs, live this life to the fullest and I promise you that you will never feel a concrete floor again. Your foster mom, Vicki Congrats to Bucky on his new home!
Piper is now officially named CoCo (i.e. CoCo Chanel). Yes, that’s right, CoCo is home (forever)!
We heard from Coco’s new mom Cathy who said, “We’ve had CoCo now since Friday. What a love she is. If she’s 7-8 she has the energy of a 3-year-old. Spent hours and hours outside scoping every lizard in our backyard. Hasn’t jumped in the pool. (Yet). Seems to be adjusting quickly. We’ll have to train her on a few words, and she likes to be in the conversation (a little barking)! Second nite she slept for about 5 hours on her bed next to ours and joined us at 3 am. Laid down and didn’t move for 4 1/2 more hours. Loves her walks with Dad and her pumpkin cookies I baked! It’s so wonderful to have a new family member!” CoCo was found as a stray in the Miami area in December and her family never came for her. A big thank you to her foster mom Jennifer for taking such good care of Coco and finding the right home for her! Kali, now named Harbor (full name Harbor June as an ode to her mom), has found her Forever Home with her new Mom Baylee! Harbor was in rescue just over 5 weeks and came into her foster home with lots of enthusiasm! Her foster dad Erik said, “The puppiness was in full mode for this 10-month-old but her character emerged very quickly, and we knew we had such a special girl on our hands. Sweet, wicked smart and fun are the best words to describe Kali. Harbor's new home will be exciting with a 10-month-old Golden to pal around with and lots of activity and exercise with Baylee. Our conversations with Baylee made us feel that Kali was going to the right place and when Baylee met Kali there was an instant spark!”
Her new mom Baylee said, “Harbor is settling in incredibly at her new home! She is an absolute blast. She is most definitely the missing puzzle piece I’ve been looking for in a dog. Her temperament is incredible (especially for her age) and I love watching her hunt lizards and point birds. We wake up at 5am for a 2-hour walk/run/park time and she loves it. Hampton Park is her favorite because of all the smells and sights. I haven’t seen a dog at the park who can keep up with her speed! Once she fully settles in, I plan to introduce her to bird hunting, although I think she will especially excel in scent tracking and dock diving. I definitely have a long list to keep this busy girl occupied and in return she is making me the happiest girl in the world! She is already recalling to her name and has learned Place and Down within one day. Thank you everyone so so much! She is an absolute dream come true.” Congrats to all and thank you Erik and Carla for helping Harbor along her rescue journey! Cosmo is now Remington (on the left)! He has found his forever home with the Jameson family and his family is complete with a big brother Mickey (2019 SEGSP Alum) to show him the ropes!
Remington came to rescue after being given up on by two families in a matter of weeks. His foster mom Kathy said, “I had him for six weeks and could never figure out why! Aside from general young GSP shenanigans, and the standard need for lots of exercise, he is absolutely the sweetest and most easy going foster I have ever had. When it was time for him to be adopted, I knew I was going to be very careful and very thorough when finding his new family. After receiving an email from his forever mom, we spoke on the phone for a long time about what I wanted for him; they checked all of the boxes, including hearing that Mickey sounded so much like him, easy going and a total Velcro dog. His new mom assured me she was adept at cooking with a dog under her feet…! After meeting his new family, and seeing the four of them together, I knew they were the perfect fit.” Word has it that Remington and Mickey are already best buddies, and he has fit into their family easily. His dad assured he has plenty of love for both of them. Kathy said, “My house is very quiet today but they have been great about keeping me updated and sending pictures. He sure looks happy to me!! I can relax knowing they will never give up on Remington!!” Thank you, Kathy, and congratulations to the entire Jameson family! Fantastic news!!!! Tasha had a very good weekend… She found her forever home and is now named Naava!
Her foster mom Abby said it was an instant match when she met her new family, Matt and Merri Beth. She romped around the backyard, and they took her for a stroll through the neighborhood and Abby saw adoration flowing in both directions. So sweet! Congratulations to Matt, Merri Beth and Naava! And thank you Abby for helping Naava along her journey! Goose has found his forever home, right with his foster mom and dad, Jennifer, and Andrew. Before Goose went to his last foster home, Jennifer babysat him for a few hours before the transport and we believe it was love at first sight for them both. It was determined that Goose didn’t really need the specialized training the other foster, Vicki, offered (thank you Vicki), so we made room for another foster dog with her, and Jennifer decided to foster Goose.
From Jennifer, “Well I feel bad saying I failed as a babysitter and knew it the moment Leslie (the transporter) and I walked outside, and he was pulling on his lead to come with me instead of going with her. That’s when I knew, though I told him not to break my heart and called my husband crying when he left. Next thing you know, we’re driving to North Carolina to pick him up to foster. He’s been at home ever since. He fits right in with my gang. When I first picked up him from the Kennel, all I saw was this big goofy guy with his big ole tongue hanging out his mouth sideways, who just jumped right on up into my car, I loved him. It was love at first sight.” She added, “He’s very at home, and very loved here. It’s hard not to fall in love with his big head and those deep brown eyes. His personality is something else. He’s so clumsy and keeps us laughing. He has the biggest derpy smile. He didn’t know how to give kisses when we got him, just big hugs! He’s the biggest snuggle bug and prefers to sleep on top of you or on your head- or even to be used as a pillow. He just loves love, and he has a lot of big love to give in return.” Goose, I guess when you know, you know! We are so happy you found your way back to Jennifer and we love how well you’re getting along with your two GSP siblings. It sounds like you’re exactly where you were meant to be. |
