Mallard

7/30/2024

Sometimes, you just know.  That’s what happened with Mallard in FL. He decided he was already home with his forever family.

His mom Dana said, “He is getting on wonderfully with Lucy (in fact, her anxiety seems to have improved since we have had him.)  He continues to learn all his commands and is a very good boy. He loves to be next to you.”

Congrats to his foster, now forever family, Dana, Mitch and his new canine sister Lucy!

Gus

7/28/2024

Amazing news from Foster Vicki: “Gus and I have some amazing news to share with everyone! He is officially retiring to Florida with his new forever parents Bryan and Suzi! He will live the life of leisure with all the other Floridian’s, drinking frozen daiquiris out by the pool, enjoying boat rides with dad, going fishing, taking runs on the beach and terrorizing the seagulls. Gus Gus it’s been a long journey for you my friend, from being rescued to having surgery that wasn’t as easy as we were hoping, the long recovery with the thousands of bandage changes, the late nights of pain, the early mornings for meds and of course another bandage change. Wow it’s been a tough one but you my boy took it all in stride like the amazing dog you are. I’m gonna miss your early morning whining telling me it’s time to get up, your give me a snack whimper, your happy laps around the island, you sitting at the pantry door because you knew where the good snacks came from. Most of all I’m gonna miss your Linus personality and you carrying that blanket around with you every where you go. You were the easiest foster to have, you just went with the flow and you were happy just hanging out and watching all the other dogs act like teenagers, you were the grandpa we all needed around. You are going to love your new life in Florida but what you are going to love most is having a house and your humans all to yourself. No more annoying dogs in your way, no more waiting on 10 food bowls to be made before being fed, no more separating the house because it’s all yours buddy. I can’t wait to get updates of you running your big back yard that you have to yourself, swimming in your very own pool, enjoying your giant beds that your new mom and dad bought for you, I mean did you see how he had the truck all setup for you buddy??? Complete with a truck hammock, dog beds, water bowl and all the snacks you could ever want, toys galore!!! I mean I want to go retire in Florida’s with you! I love you so much Gus, you were with me for such a long time that life seems empty without you but I promise this is the life we’ve been waiting for, the life you were destined to have. I was just a stop along the way for you to heal so that you would be 100% when we found your new home. I am so proud of you for the happy dog you’ve become and I can’t wait to watch you thrive in your new home. Go enjoy the sunshine and those boat rides buddy.” Vicki, thank you for all you have done for Gus. And congratulations Gus! Enjoy FL.

Bessie

7/25/2024

Congratulations to Bessie on finding her forever home.  She didn’t have to go very far… Bessie was an easy foster fail for her foster family!

Her foster, now forever, mom Kris said, “We weren’t looking to adopt a dog but she was such a sweetheart who wouldn’t want to keep this girl forever!  She slid right into our lifestyle with hikes, running with Ron, walking with Kris, and swimming in the lake.  She loves her toys and spends her time playing endless rounds of fetch and finding the toys we hide around the house for her.  She has an incredible nose and even uses it for some search and find the humans in the woods.  Bessie is even going to try agility this week and we bet she will love it!  Although her new sister Sayde, a 14-year-old Vizsla, isn’t as interested in puppy play, Bessie cherishes their time together.”

Welcome to your forever home, Bessie!   Congrats everyone!

Meleia

7/24/2024

Meleia has found her forever dream home with her dad Trevor!  She is going to be so spoiled, and it was definitely worth the wait… her new home is just perfect for her.  A big thank you to her foster mom, and our FL State Coordinator, Dorothy, for all the work she did getting Meleia ready and making sure her forever home has what Meleia needs and wants.
Congratulations everyone!

Camo

Camo has found his forever home with the Hancock family, and he even has a new brother, SEGSP alum, Ranger. And they are best buds. Not only does he have a new family, he has a new name, Camelot, or Cam, for short! Cam loves his new three acre yard (soon to be five acres!). And there’s a 700 acre park a half mile from his house. A couple of days in, she said, “He is doing great. Slept through the night the last two nights in a row in a large crate in the living room with no accidents (he curls up and goes to sleep as soon as we get him in there for bedtime).” His new mom says that he has won their hearts. And we suspect they have won his, too! #adopted #welcomehome #segspalumni

Bear

7/15/2024

Picture
Bear (left) is home (and happy)!  He very easily worked his way into his foster parents’ hearts so they just couldn’t say goodbye. Yup, another foster fail – YAY!

Bear now has a GSP sister, some dwarf goats and miniature horses to have fun with.  What a great life.  Congratulations to Bear, Rachel and Jordan!

Comet

7/5/2024

Comet (FL) is officially heartworm free! His foster mom Nancy said he has a LOT more energy now. And… It's another foster fail! Thank you, Nancy, for loving this boy and giving him a forever home. We just knew he would wiggle his way to your heart! (He’s a bit camera shy, so have to catch him when he rests.) Congratulations Comet, Nancy and Ed! #fosterfail #heartwormfree #segsprescue

Goose

7/1/2024

Goose's adoption papers are signed and it’s official – he’s HOME!  Congrats Maigh & Mickey on your new bundle of fur!  Foster dad Benito said, “Goose, formerly Ben, quickly made himself at home by sniffing around his new space, testing out the couch and investigating his new toys. We've heard he's settling in well and ready for some play dates with his former foster sister Paisley. We know Goose will be loved and spoiled like he deserves!”

Congratulations Goose, Maigh and Mickey!  And thank you Benito and Bethany for helping Goose along his journey.
