It’s a beautiful day for a dog adoption! Chapo has found his forever home complete with more family than he had ever expected. From former foster mom, Vicki: “Chapo got out of the car and immediately walked towards the happy family getting out of the truck on the other side of the park. No barking, lunging or fear of the people walking directly at him, which if you know Chapo then you know how truly amazing this was. Chapo has what I like to call fear of the unknown when he is on leash, he is big and bad if he doesn’t know you and he is normally happy to show it but not today! Today he looked at this family and just thought hey do you think I can play with those little humans of yours? Chapo buddy you have by far been the easiest foster I have ever had and if I already didn’t have a special needs dog you would have been right here forever, that’s how perfect you are. I thought for sure I was gonna be able to walk away without tears because after spending an hour with your new family all my anxiety disappeared but then you had to go and hug me when you left which is something you don’t offer up very often so my eyes flooded like I was in the middle of the kitchen dicing onions. You held on and so did I but I promise sweet boy if I didn’t feel this family’s love for you already I would have loaded you up and headed home with you. I know change is tough but just remember this is the last stop for you Chapo, no more kennels because other dogs need to go out, no more waiting for endless food bowls to be passed out and no more human sharing because now you have 5 humans all to yourself! Can you imagine 10 hands for belly rubs and butt scratches, boy did you hit the jackpot. Also guess where you get to board when your family goes out of town? Yes sir, you guessed correct, right here with me. I told you that you are stuck with me for life and I meant it. I will be here every step of your journey, helping your family navigate your training and helping them in anyway I can so this isn’t goodbye, it’s until I see you again. I love you very much Chapo but please don’t miss me or worry because this is your turn for happiness now and you deserve every ounce of love you get lover boy! Congratulations to Steve, Katie and their beautiful children (oldest not pictured), you got a gem of a GSP, his intelligence is what us dog trainers dream about, his love is pure and plentiful and don’t get me started on his funny personality.”
Breaking News....It’s A Boy From foster, now forever mom, Vicki: “It’s official, JJ is home where he belongs right here with his new siblings Fatty McFatterson, Tater Tot and SEGSP Alum Minnie Pearl. Little JJ I fell in love with you the moment I picked you up from Amanda’s and put you in my car. You were not meant to be my foster only a passerby but you clearly had other plans for us. The phone call from telling me that you had escaped your cozy foster home out of fear made my heart shatter into pieces. I cried my eyes out and jumped in my car driving to your foster house to look for you. We had so many people in those woods and I’m so very thankful for every one of them for their help. You had over 70,000 people routing for you and checking on you and you had no idea just how loved you were little one. You were so stubborn though and just wanted to stay wild a few days longer so I drove home crying the whole way. After 3 days of sleepless nights, watching trail cams, searching the woods and not being very patience we got the text that you were trapped in the fence. I don’t even know if I was fully dressed when I got in the car and once again drove an hour away to try and gain your trust enough to catch you in the yard. It was raining and you were so scared but I sat and I waited what felt like hours but was only few minutes. You kept circling and circling me and the minute your nose touched my back I threw my entire body on top of you not caring if you bit me out of fear, it was a chance I was willing to take to have you back in my arms again. I knew in that moment that you would never leave me again no matter what. I took you to the vet to get you checked out that night because I truly do have an amazing vet and once he gave the okay we headed home you in my arms covered in fleas but I didn’t care as long as I had you. After two baths at home to insure we were flea free you curled up on the couch with your foster siblings and rolled over on your back fully exposed and went to sleep, you knew you were home as much as I did. I wasn’t ready for another dog and I wasn’t looking but the feeling I felt when I looked into your eyes that night in that rain was the same feeling I had when I saw my soul dog Fatty McFatterson for the first time and our fates were forever sealed in that moment. You are mine and I am yours until we leave this world, I will love you until your last breath and even then my love will follow you across that rainbow bridge, that my boy is how strong this dog moms love is!” Tears! JJ you are so loved. Thank you to everyone for your help with his journey. #JJishome #fosterfail #segsprescue #happytails
Maverick is home - FOREVER with the Nix family!
Maverick loves to swim, so his new family took him to the beach on the way home and Maverick couldn’t have been happier. He now has three canine siblings to play with and they welcomed him with friendly sniffs and cuddles. His foster mom Kharis said, “I can tell you that Maverick is going to be very happy with his new family. It was a pleasure to meet the Nix family and they already love Maverick so much. Thank you to the group for helping Maverick connect him with his new furever Family.” Thank YOU, Kharis, for fostering Maverick and carefully going through applications to find the perfect home for Maverick! And congratulations to the entire Nix family, including Maverick! Molly has made it official… she is staying with her foster, now forever, family!
Lisa and Chris fostered Molly through heartworm treatment, and fostering for many months tends to make you bond with your foster dog (and vice versa), and it sure did. And Molly has grown accustomed to fishing with Chris, boating, hanging at the beach with her humans and helping them check for mail (and so many more adventures). Molly came to rescue last year with her sister, Marni, and Marni was also a “foster fail” with her own foster family. We’re super happy for Molly, Lisa and Chris joining the “foster fail” club. Congrats everyone! Nova Rae has found her forever home with the Bundy family! To say Nova Rae’s rescue life has been exciting is an understatement.
When she came to rescue, she changed foster homes because she was startled easily, and needed a tall fence. She was transported to Rincon, where she started a 5-month stay with her foster mom Denise and family. Five months seems like a long time, but Nova Rae was scared and nervous. She needed to get to know her area and develop trust. She found her safe place in her foster mom Denise's office, where she would sit in the bed next to her or in her foster dad’s armchair. After a tense escape from the backyard, the fence was fixed and she settled in, playing with her foster pup sibling and enjoying life. New sounds still scared her, but it was a large 1-acre fence so plenty of room to run and lots of places to hide. Nova Rae was matched with the Bundy’s, and they met her in Macon. When Nova Rae arrived at her new home, on a lease walk in her new yard, she was startled, slipped her collar and went over their 6-foot fence. The Bundy's opened their gate, watched her on the camera's feed, contacted everyone and finally set a trap for her. After 5 stressful days the trap was sprung and she was finally back with her new family who love her and are creating the safe space that she needs. Thank you, Denise and family, for fostering this crazy, sweet girl and finding her forever home. Congrats Nova Rae and the Bundy family! |
