Ringo has been adopted! Congratulations to Sheree and Ringo (formerly Ringer). Sheree said he is settling in very nicely and loves to snuggle! Thank you to Tina for fostering Ringo & finding him a forever home. #adopted #home #segsprescue
Lacie, now Tilly, is home with the Hecker family. They chose the name Tilly because in German it means mighty in battle. ❤️❤️❤️ Tilly looks so happy! Congrats to all. #newadoption #NCdog #segsprescue
Woody, “Woodford Reserve” has found his forever home – right where he is! His foster, now forever, mom Amy said, “When we were thinking about getting GSP everyone in the house decided that it would be a good idea to foster one first to learn about the breed while helping a pup who needed a home for a bit. When he came to us, Woody was scared to death by lots of things... loud noises, sudden movements, new people, stairs, even his harness and leash. He had a rough patch with his neutering surgery (all healed now) and just seemed to be so out of sorts at first. But we loved him through it, especially our adult son who lives and works at home and who has claimed him as "his dog". When we knew Woody was finally relaxed and happy we decided he needed to stay with us forever. He is a completely different guy than the broken boy we picked up. We do have plans to get some training help for leash and basic commands, but Woody is such a good boy for being less than a year old with an unknown past. He is vocal, and even sings sometimes. A total snuggler. Woody could not care less about small critters in the yard but is very interested in the deer we have around. He loves his walks and jogs. When he is older, he will be a great running companion for the runners in the house. And he is just so handsome. BTW, I foster with other rescues and this our first foster fail. That should tell you how special he is.” Yes, he certainly is special, and so are you, Amy. Thank you and congratulations! #fosterfail #happynews #segsprescue
Lily has found her home! Her foster mom Kristen said, “Lily had such a rough start to life and was so afraid of everything and in desperate need of socialization when she first came to rescue. So, we were thrilled to reach a point where we felt she was ready for her forever family! That’s when Katelyn and Max entered the picture. When Lily met them and their dog Grayson, it was love at first sight for all three of them. We were over the moon excited to find a family she was so comfortable with! It was such a joy to foster Lily and see her incredible progress and an even greater joy to see her with a family that will love her forever!”
From Lily’s forever family: “Lily has settled in so quickly and even though it has only been our first week, it seems like she has been part of our family for a long time! She loves playing with toys and sleeping in her big girl bed in our room. She is obsessed with her big brother Grayson, but she is independent enough that she explores the house as she pleases. She likes sleeping in Dad’s office during the day between play sessions. Overall, Lily is adjusting incredibly well, and we love her so much!” Congratulations to Lily, Katelyn, Max and Grayson! And thank you Kristen for fostering Lily and finding her forever home. #lilyforever #gspforever #gsplove Congratulations to the Zimmerman family for their adoption of Sky, now Kumo! They said, we’re delighted that our family can be counted among those who have foster failed. As you’ll see from the images below, Kumo is quite a happy pup. We went back and forth on names, but ended up naming him ‘Kumo,' the Japanese word for ‘cloud.’ His coat somewhat resembles a cloudy sky—nearly bare on one side of his body and haphazardly spotty on the other—so we thought the name fit him perfectly. He and our 10-year old GSP love nothing more than a good run through the park in the early morning hours, stopping to point at every object that moves. Like any velcro GSP, at the end of the day, Kumo wants nothing more than a good cuddle, plopping himself atop whatever human is in his general vicinity. Happy first ever gotcha day, Kumo!
HAPPY FOSTER FAIL FRIDAY! "Stormy is not going anywhere, she is our girl." That was the response I got when I asked Donna if she felt Stormy was ready to go up for adoption. Donna and her husband Michael took Stormy in from a bad situation and she seemed to be at home from the beginning. She took to family life like she had been inside and spoiled all of her life and they all seemed to know from the beginning this girl would not be going anywhere. I was getting messages often about Stormy becoming Michael's shadow and as you can see from these pictures that seems to be the case! Welcome home sweet girl. Congratulations Donna and Michael. Stormy is one lucky girl.
Happy Foster Fail Friday! Josie has an amazing announcement… She has fallen in love with her foster family, and she’s decided she is HOME and they happily agreed with her! Congratulations to the McCollum family for welcoming this sweet girl into their family. She looks so happy, and we think they are smitten, too! What a happy story!
Jasper, now Piper, has been adopted by the Murray Family! Her foster mom Melissa said, “They LOVE her, and Piper loves them! It was very heartwarming, and I know she's going to be spoiled rotten.”
Melissa and John were also first-time fosterers for SEGSP and they did an amazing job. They have gone above and beyond in not only their care of Piper, but also with transporting! We have amazing volunteers… Congrats everyone! We have a special “adoptiversary” story to tell…
Lucy has been adopted by her foster family on the same day ONE YEAR AGO that they adopted Enzo! A happy Adoptiversary! Her mom Ashley said, “We had so much fun failing the first time, we figured why not do it again, one year to the day to be exact. December 16th will forever be our “Gotcha Day” x2. We started our journey with Enzo a year ago clueless about fostering a GSP, but I literally fell in love almost instantly. Enzo is a unique with a heart of gold, energy of a puppy at times, yet the soul of an old man who loves to nap. Given his history of poor health and temperament issues when he first came into rescue, we were convinced we’d be a one GSP household. That was until Kathy sent out an email needing fosters for 5.5 week old puppies. Naturally, I sent my husband a text with a picture of the puppies thinking surely, he’d be the logical one and say no, but instead he immediately responded with “IN.” The rest was history and Hurricane Lucy took us, including Enzo by storm. She’s every bit of GSP and I know we’re in so much trouble with this one but we wouldn’t trade it for the world. She may be tiny, for now, but man is she mighty. She’s a ladies’ man with her whole world evolving around Enzo and John. She’s a true Velcro dog, unlike Enzo, and does the most adorable spin move then body slams you right before she crashes hard in whatever crevice of your body she can find. She’s also currently finding her “barking” voice, is always running around with one ear flipped further displaying just how psycho she really is, points when she sleeps, and is in this awkward growth spurt where she looks like Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer with her long, lanky legs for days she uses to get in even more trouble. As crazy as it (aka Lucy) sounds, we can officially say she is here to stay and Enzo will forever share a piece of his Adoptiversary cake with her on December 16th.” YAY congratulations everyone! More awesome news….Ryder has chosen his forever family, the Beckers. Not only does he have an awesome mom and dad, but he has two human brothers that think he is awesome. After the first day, we got this update from his mom, “He’s been settling in well today and he really likes his new bed and has been playing with his toys. He is doing really well with the kids and the boys already love him. He had a busy day between walks, getting a new harness and even helping to decorate the Christmas tree. He’s pretty tuckered out and is already in his bed sound asleep. Though we are still learning about him, and he is still learning about us, I think he’s going to fit in just right. We are so happy and thankful he is part of our family.”
Our volunteers Joe and Sarah fostered Ryder and while they had several amazing candidates, the Becker family just seemed like they were meant to be. And it looks like they were right! Thank you, Joe and Sarah, for fostering and being such great volunteers. We are lucky to have you. |
