Chapo

9/26/2024

It’s a beautiful day for a dog adoption! Chapo has found his forever home complete with more family than he had ever expected. From former foster mom, Vicki: “Chapo got out of the car and immediately walked towards the happy family getting out of the truck on the other side of the park. No barking, lunging or fear of the people walking directly at him, which if you know Chapo then you know how truly amazing this was. Chapo has what I like to call fear of the unknown when he is on leash, he is big and bad if he doesn’t know you and he is normally happy to show it but not today! Today he looked at this family and just thought hey do you think I can play with those little humans of yours? Chapo buddy you have by far been the easiest foster I have ever had and if I already didn’t have a special needs dog you would have been right here forever, that’s how perfect you are. I thought for sure I was gonna be able to walk away without tears because after spending an hour with your new family all my anxiety disappeared but then you had to go and hug me when you left which is something you don’t offer up very often so my eyes flooded like I was in the middle of the kitchen dicing onions. You held on and so did I but I promise sweet boy if I didn’t feel this family’s love for you already I would have loaded you up and headed home with you. I know change is tough but just remember this is the last stop for you Chapo, no more kennels because other dogs need to go out, no more waiting for endless food bowls to be passed out and no more human sharing because now you have 5 humans all to yourself! Can you imagine 10 hands for belly rubs and butt scratches, boy did you hit the jackpot. Also guess where you get to board when your family goes out of town? Yes sir, you guessed correct, right here with me. I told you that you are stuck with me for life and I meant it. I will be here every step of your journey, helping your family navigate your training and helping them in anyway I can so this isn’t goodbye, it’s until I see you again. I love you very much Chapo but please don’t miss me or worry because this is your turn for happiness now and you deserve every ounce of love you get lover boy! Congratulations to Steve, Katie and their beautiful children (oldest not pictured), you got a gem of a GSP, his intelligence is what us dog trainers dream about, his love is pure and plentiful and don’t get me started on his funny personality.”
