We have exciting news-Zelda has found her forever home with the Fields family. She is shown here hugging her new mom and we are told the family is so excited to welcome her home. A few days prior to picking her up, her dad said he was ready to go pick up “our girl.” We are so excited for Zelda to have a family that already loves her so much and we know she is in great hands.
Zelda graduated from her classes at Kanupp Kennels and the staff there shared that Zelda holds a special place in their hearts. In fact, the day she went to her forever home, several staff members came in on their day off to say goodbye and we are told a few happy tears may have been shed. That says so much about the staff and the facility that Marty has created there…it’s more than a job, they love the dogs they train. We are grateful to Kanupp Kennels for all it does for SEGSP. Congrats to Zelda and to the Fields family. We are excited for her to begin her “forever.” We are so grateful to our incredible network of volunteers and adopters. It makes it hard to choose just one family for a dog, but when the dog picks their new humans, the choice becomes easier!
And that’s exactly what Baxter did. Baxter met Mary and Mike for the 1st time on Saturday. He immediately climbed up on the sofa with both of them and wouldn't leave their sides. He found his people. Baxter will be enjoying life in North Carolina with a big backyard, lots of walks, squirrels to chase and most importantly-- lots of love from his new Mom and Dad. Thank you to Kristy & family for fostering Baxter and giving him a fresh start. From Kristy, “We loved fostering Baxter (Our 1st foster) We will miss him dearly but know he is going to be living his best life.” Ashlar has chosen his forever home!
From his foster mom: “We are so excited that Ashlar is going to live with Bill, Lee and their children. He will get so much love, be the focus of their attention, and get to go on so many adventures! Ashlar now has a large yard at home, but also family farms to run around on and a lake to visit regularly. He has a GSP cousin to romp around with. Bill, Lee, and their children sent the sweetest note the first night Ashlar was home with them with great pictures of Ashlar enjoying his new space and family. It really made us so happy knowing Ashlar is right where he's supposed to be.” We are so excited for Ashlar, and also so grateful to the Gilberts, including alums Sky and Tag, for being such an amazing foster family. They had so many wonderful applicants for Ashlar, and they took their job of selecting his forever home very seriously. They will miss him, but knowing he is in the right home sure does make it a bit easier. We can’t wait to share more updates on Ashlar as he settles in at his forever home. Kody has found his forever home! From his foster mom Lisa, “Well Kody is loving his new life already. He went to the beach and played in the surf and is being spoiled rotten!”
As it should be – right Kody? Congratulations to Mike and Kody! Congratulations to Quin on finding her forever family! From her foster mom Vicki, “ My heart is so full right now and although I’m bawling my eyes out I know by the look on this sweet girl’s face as she looks up and smiles at her new mom and dad that it was all worth it. Quin has touched so many lives, as there were several volunteers involved in her rescue, fostering and training, all of which made this moment possible. I could not have found a more loving, patient, understanding and active family than these two beautiful people. This is the hardest part of being a foster but as I snuck out the front door because I couldn’t bear the goodbye look I just told myself, ‘We are family now, part of an amazing village built on the love of a GSP.’” Quin can look forward to a life full of hiking, biking and lots of fetch in her new huge backyard…plus plenty of love and spoiling.
Quin’s journey to her new forever family has been a bit longer than most due to her very specific needs in her adoptive family. Southeast GSP Rescue is committed to giving as many GSP’s as possible their best life and we have valuable volunteers who are willing to work months with a dog to make this happen. From the early days of learning a dog to the search for the perfect family that will help the dog thrive, our volunteers are dedicated to each pup. Quin was lucky to have Vicki, a valued foster volunteer and dog trainer, to learn Quin’s quirks and fears and help Quin learn to trust humans to the best of her ability. When the Tully’s reached out to Vicki about her other foster dog, Gunner, Vicki knew they were perfect for Quin. They have experience with dogs with the specific needs Quin has and live close enough to Vicki to continue Quin’s training. We are so happy that Vicki found the Tully’s for Quin, they are exactly what she needs to live her best GSP life! Lolly has found her forever home! There were so many wonderful applicants for Lolly and it was a tough decision for her foster mom Deanna and we really appreciate all of the time and effort she put into making that decision.
From Deanna, “We are sad to see Lolly go but know that she will have the perfect life with Neely and Richard. Thank you for all of the support we have received fostering Lolly. We look forward to fostering again!” Congratulations to Lolly, Neely and Richard! |
