Little Ann (now Dylann) has decided on forever with her longtime foster mom, Sarah. After over a year of working on doggie socialization, Dylann sat Sarah down for a chat and said that she appreciates all of her hard work, but would prefer to just stay here and threaten to rip the head off of any dog that gets within five feet of her space. She has agreed that her new canine brother Tatum is alright and will tolerate the occasional foster brought into the house as long as she’s given adequate notice and time and space to warm up. And Sarah said that was okay. In return, Dylann promises to always follow her mom around the house, give great cuddles, and lick her sweaty face when she’s done working out. Some dogs’ rescue journeys just look a little bit different than others. This girl has always been a bit of a diva and we love her for it!
Congrats on forever Dylann, Tatum, and Sarah!

What a GREAT way to start a Monday… Our boy Gator has found his forever home and we couldn’t be more excited and thrilled for him!
From Gator’s foster mom Leslie, “There were tears of sadness and joy today as we said goodbye to our Gator boy. All the hard work was worth it to see this special moment. We are so excited because he has quite a charmed life ahead with the Kostrzewski Family. Mom Hannah and the proud grand’paw’ents came to meet us this morning. They had a soft fur blanket & a stuffed Gator in the backseat ready for bonding time with mom for the drive home. Hannah sent a pic of him snoozing in the car holding his little gator. Hannah is wearing the tan jacket & I’m in the red shirt. My daughter Claire in the gamecock sweatshirt cried her heart out this a.m. but she admitted that we couldn’t have picked a better family anywhere for Gator. My mom and aunt also came along for gotcha day.” Gator may be blind, but he can see with his heart and soul and there is no doubt his forever family will be overwhelmed with how much love this boy will give them. Congrats to Gator and the Kostrzewski Family! Major (GA) has a big announcement – he finished his heartworm treatment and even better than that good news… he has decided to stay “forever” with his foster, now forever, mom Sandee! After 4 months of heartworm treatment, with tender love and care from Sandee, he had plenty of time to determine that it was a perfect match.
From Sandee, “It's been quite chilly here! Yesterday started with a little bit of chasing Rocky around the yard and then a lot of laying around in the sun! We are all thrilled that he will be staying with us. He's a unique and sweet guy.” Congratulations to Major and his new family! It took Cash (GA) a little while to sort through applications, but he has finally found the perfect home – his FOREVER home!
From his foster mom Mandy, “He definitely hit the jackpot! He has a beautiful home and large yard to play in, all the toys a dog could want, and a dog park right down the road. Cash was so excited and happy at their home. He jumped up to greet Pat (which is unlike him) took the squeaky toy from John and went about his merry way playing just like he had always been there. He was genuinely happy, so it did our heart good to know he was going to be in such a great home where he'll always be loved! Congratulations Cash for finding an amazing forever home!” Thank you to Mandy and Jake for taking such good care of Cash and helping him along his journey. Congrats to Cash and the Shuey family! Bentley (NC) is so happy to announce that he has FINALLY found his forever home! We can not thank the Kanupp Kennel staff enough for all they’ve done to help Bentley on his journey to his forever, forever home. He sure looks cozy on his first night at home!
Congratulations to the Bentley and his new mom Beth! YAY Bentley! Georgia went about her “forever” plan in a different way than most GSPs. Her secret plan started with her foster GSP sibling Colt. It took a while but Colt not only warmed up to Georgia, he now isn’t sure what he’d do without her. So…Colt lobbied and convinced his parents Vicky and Chris that they should adopt Georgia. Result: Georgia’s foster, now forever, family has officially joined the Foster Fail Club! Look at the photo of Colt thanking them – beautiful!
From Vicky, “It brings us a great deal of peace to know we will never have to worry about where Georgia is or how she's doing. Since she has arrived, she has always struck out on her own path, including heeling me while I do my normal farm chore routine. She has never found that patiently waiting by the gate for me to finish, like her k-9 sibling Colt does is much fun. She brings me a great deal of laughter and excitement with her fearless, tenacious, no nonsense, business with our livestock. She and Colt, who are both a bit unsocial, have found a healthy balance and respect for each other, and pick up where the other leaves off now. She awaits Chris arrival home like a bouncy ball and has snuggled her way to his heart and on to the furniture lol. She compliments our family well and it’s hard to imagine life without her presence.” Congrats Georgia, Colt, Vicky and Chris! Ralph, our senior sweetheart in TN, was slow to receive applications at first, but suddenly, he became Mr. Popular! And he is so happy to announce that he has found his perfect forever home with Casey and Joey.
When his new family officially picked him up, Ralph seamlessly jumped in the back seat of their truck...not too shabby for an older guy who is partially blind! They drove off into the sunset and Ralph has been enjoying his big backyard ever since. He got to check it out a few days prior and did a perimeter check, investigating all of the trees and gave everything his sniff of approval. His foster mom, Allison, loved and cared for this guy so much and her patience and care for him was amazing. She was so happy for him and proud to see him exploring his new home and yard with seemingly no worry. Ralph came to rescue anxious and scared and when he first visited his new home, his tail wagged the whole time and he just seemed like he always belonged there. He has come such a long way! His new family quickly fell in love with this sweet, gentle and handsome guy. All of his new pet siblings are respectful of his space, and easily welcomed him into the pack. He is still getting used to his new space, new people and new dog siblings, but word is that he hasn't stopped wagging his tail yet! His new mom Cacey said "Axel, Ralph's GSP brother, seems to know that Ralph has trouble getting around so he walks slowly in front so Ralph can follow him." Comments like this make you know that he is in the right place and we are so grateful for both his foster mom for finding him the perfect landing spot and to his new family for making him feel so welcome. |
