Buddy
2005 - 2019

Our hearts are sad today….SEGSP 2014 Alumnus Buddy took his last walk yesterday with his family and crossed over the rainbow bridge.  Buddy was surrendered to SEGSP in 2014 and although he was diagnosed with cancer, his foster family adopted him and gave him all, and more, of the love he had never experienced.  The hemangiosarcoma had spread to his lungs so it was time to say goodbye. Our hearts go out to the Fleming family.  Run pain-free Buddy…

Martin

We are devastated.  Sweet Little Martin tried so hard, as did his vet team, however his pain had increased dramatically, so with heavy hearts and lots and lots of tears, we told Little Martin to run to the Rainbow Bridge.

SEGSP loves all of our rescued GSPs but Little Martin touched us in such a special way and he will be missed by all of us.  We’ve received many recommendations from our followers on ways to help Martin, and we appreciate every suggestion. However, Martin’s team of Vet Specialists reviewed every single possible option based on his condition and what he could handle, and in the end they knew none would allow him a happy, pain-free life.

Martin may have been small in body, but he left a huge imprint on many hearts. The entire vet staff was so in love with him they spent the morning loving him with hugs and kisses and even bought him a McDonalds sausage biscuit to enjoy.  Although he had stopped eating his food, he did muster up the excitement to eat this special treat. The Vet Staff said their goodbyes and they were all with him until the very end.
We simply cannot thank them enough for their kindness and dedication to making sure Martin knew he was loved.  Thank you from the SEGSP Volunteers, Administrators and Board of Directors.  Run pain-free little boy…

Piper

With heavy hearts we say goodbye to sweet Piper, rescued by SEGSP in 2008, who passed away from liver failure.  Piper came to SEGSP from Alabama and was adopted by Lynn and Olen in Georgia who loved and cherished her for eleven years.  Her Mom Lynn said:  “Piper used to sit inside or outside and wait until someone noticed her wanting to go out or come in.  She was a wonderfully fun dog and I called her my ‘WACKO WOMAN.’  FUN!  She was a dear, sweet girl.”

Rest in peace sweet Piper…    “My mind still talks to you. My heart still looks for you. But my soul knows you are at peace...” Unknown

Grady

Beautiful Grady, our 2017 Alumnus, has left this world and our hearts are broken.  He became very ill within a very short time with spline, liver and intestinal cancer.  His Mom said he loved them so much, never complained and even jumped in their boat Sunday to hang out with his best pal Fred. He also went for a 2 mile walk and never let on he was dying. Jill and Fred loved him for 27 months after adopting him at age 7 two years ago. He came to rescue a shy boy weighing only 41 pounds and may have only had 2 wonderful years with Jill and Fred, but it was packed with love and adventure.  Run free sweet Grady…

Ellie Mae
2010 - 2019

We end the day on yet another sad announcement.  Almost exactly 2 years ago sweet Ellie Mae found her forever home at age 9.  She was adopted by her family knowing she had a heart murmur but sadly it was determined to be a congenital defect that led to congestive heart failure and she passed to the rainbow bridge.
From her Mom Leigh: “She was beyond the sweetest dog, loved everyone and made our lives so much better for the very short time we had her. I don't know what her life was before SEGSP Rescue, but I can assure you she lived the most perfect two years of her life with us.”

Schatzi

Schatzi
2007 - 2019

SEGSP received very sad news today. Our 2015 Alumna Schatzi has passed away. We received a tearful call from her Mom Catie yesterday saying that Schatzi was in the end stages of renal failure. Schatzi was 14 years young, and they loved her for 3 1/2 short years. The entire family is just devastated.

We know without doubt that Schatzi was deeply loved. We received countless pictures of Schatzi over the years from her family. There was a sweet photo of Schatzi taking naps with their baby who was 1 at the time of adoption, then as she grew up, we would receive pictures of her checking Schatzi's vitals and sleeping in a princess tent. The last picture we received was of her hugging Schatzi on her first day of kindergarden... just precious. Catie often called Schatzi her "dog shadow". She really was a special girl and we will all miss her.

From her family: "Thank you again for taking a chance on us a few years ago. She was the best and sweetest dog we could ever have asked for. I would have been happy as can be with Schatzi for the rest of my life."

Run free sweet girl…you are loved and will be missed.

Zoe

Zoe
2012 - 2019

We are heartbroken to announce our 2013 Alumnus Zoe has gone to the rainbow bridge. She endured a lot in her short life…heartworm treatment, an eye injury and was adopted and returned to rescue twice.  But her winding road led her to the Wright family – the RIGHT family.

Zoe was tiny and tough - a fighter and true huntress.  Her two favorite places were curled up in any tiny spot (preferably your lap) or rear end in the air as she hunted anything small that moved.  Tragically, her bladder cancer and heart tumor were obstacles she couldn’t overcome. Her Vet said she had 2-3 months but Zoe thrived 9 months before she stopped eating and her family made the difficult choice to let her go.

From her Mom Nancy:  “She was only with us for five years, but Zoe was such a blessing to our family. Of all the dogs I have had and known, she was absolutely the sweetest. As I have said many times before, everyone loved Zoe.  We miss her terribly.”

Enjoy hunting heaven sweet girl…
