Clibano (AL, 2 yo, 45 lbs.) is officially heartworm NEGATIVE – YAY! Her foster mom Michelle said, “She is doing great - Just a little compact love bug! Although she’s built like a brick house! Try moving her when she’s stuck on your lap ha-ha.”
Clibano has been spayed and now that we know she is heartworm negative, word has it she’s happy where she is, but we’ll wait for the official announcement before we celebrate. Thank you, Michelle, for all you do for this pretty gal! #gsplovebug #gsplapdog #gsphappy Our Hospice foster, Luke (AL), is having the time of his life with his foster family!
His foster mom Megan said, “We went back to the lake today and our boy made the most of it. We got him a new GPS collar and let him wander around with us, off leash, and he was a dream! He went for another boat ride that included ear flapping and a nap, posed by the water (note, I’m saving a photo for the calendar contest), and met my in-laws' two dogs. The only part he didn’t like was us making him stay on the porch when our daughter tried to ski. He’s a grumpy old man, who barks like a hound dog when he’s alone. Now he’s passed out in the back seat on the way home. I call it a success!” We agree — that’s the perfect way for a pup to end the day: happy, loved, and snoozing after a full day of adventure! #al Clibano (AL, 2 yo, 45 lbs.) is a sweetie according to her foster mom Michelle. She said she’s super playful and snuggly, has a very high prey drive and is obsessed with watching and barking at the animals outside. She is working on not pulling so much on the leash when they walk her, but she has learned how to sit. She loves fetch and will bring her toy and drop it in your lap. … I will be honest, this may end up a foster fail, we love her and so do my other dogs! They play for hours together.”
Awww, I bet Clibano feels the same way! Clibano will be spayed in a week… the last step before deciding whether she stays or begins her search. Thank you, Michelle, for fostering Clibano! #al We have another awesome update from our Hospice boy Luke’s Forever Foster family:
“Today Luke got to experience Lake Life, and I think he approves. We were on a walk by the water, and he decided that it was time to check it out. He marched straight down our boat ramp and in he went like he had done it a thousand times before. I had my bathing suit on, so I kicked off my shoes and hopped in to see how he did with swimming. He stood still for a few minutes and let the waves splash on him, then he headed my way. He started swimming but when the water hit his ears, he was not having it. He went straight back to the step on the sea wall and was less than thrilled that I was asking him to walk back up the ramp as opposed to him, and his arthritis, trying to jump up to the top of the wall. The situation was much improved with boat rides. The first one, he was cautious in his exploring and wanted to stay beside someone. We went for round 2 at dusk and he got brave, took his spot at the front of the boat (like all our other GSPs have done) and the wind finally caught his ears and he looked like he was ready to fly. Now, he’s giving us the ultimate sign of a great day at the lake…an early bedtime because you just can’t hang any longer with all the fun you’ve had.” These updates make every single one of us smile because we know without SEGSP and his immensely caring forever foster family, Luke would have lived his final years in an outdoor kennel (no longer used for hunting) and would never have known the life of a beloved family dog. Plus, he is physically now able to enjoy life because he now receives Dasuquin for his joints, Librela monthly for arthritis pain, Vetmedin for his heart, and Enalapril for his blood pressure (thanks to our donors). #AL Healing thoughts and prayers for Snoop please (AL, 3 yo) – he goes in for his neuter today. He is officially heartworm negative – YAY and had some skin and ear issues (itchy and he scratched until they bled) but that’s all cleared up now.
He’s house-trained, crate-trained, does well on and off leash, rides well in a car, zero aggression and does well with other dogs and even cats! He likes retrieving, running in the yard, knows basic commands and has no fears (at least that we know of). He is a true turn-key GSP! Snoop still needs a couple more weeks in rescue for temperament evaluation before he’s ready for adoption. Thank you to his foster mom Darcy for fostering Snoop! This is Darcy’s 4th SEGSP foster dog with one successful foster fail. #al #goodlucksnoop #snoopdoggsp #gspturnkey Clibano (AL, 2 yo, approx. 45 lbs.) is FINALLY out of the shelter and in her foster home with Michelle! Another BIG thank you to Fostina at the Dekalb County-AL Animal Shelter for helping Clibano find SEGSP and meeting Michelle half-way. And of course, THANK YOU Michelle for fostering Clibano!
This young girl came to the shelter pregnant and sadly they believe she was too thin to produce enough milk to keep them alive and their supplemental feeding wasn’t enough to help. She is gaining weight, will need to be spayed, but is thankfully heartworm negative. Michelle said, “She is super friendly and not at all skittish or scared. She was very quick to warm up to me and my dogs and is super playful. Also, she is absolutely beautiful. Tiny and cute with beautiful markings. She literally made herself right at home and didn’t mind her spa day in the bath lol.” Thank you again to Michelle, who will be evaluating Clibano’s temperament during the next month. We look forward to learning more about her personality. #al #welcomeclibano #gsphappy #gspbeauty |
