Welcome to rescue, Remington (FL, 1 yo, 75 lbs.)! This handsome hunk was surrendered to an Alabama shelter along with his brother, Crash. When we couldn’t find an Alabama foster home, our amazing volunteer network stretched across state lines — and Matica in Florida stepped up to foster him.
A huge thank-you to Matica, and to his transport angels Beth, Mark, and Ginny, for getting him safely to his new foster home! Matica shared, “Remington is doing great — he’s such a sweet boy with a wonderful disposition. He’s learned his name and ‘sit,’ and he’s working on being patient for his food and treats. He’s your typical Velcro GSP and loves to be close and affectionate.” Remington is neutered, heartworm-negative, and up to date on vaccines. At a healthy 75 lbs., he’s a big, gentle guy! Now that he’s settled in, he’ll spend the next few weeks focusing on basic training and temperament evaluation — and then, he’ll be ready for adoption. #fl Welcome Crash! Meet Crash, a 1-year-old, 68-lb bundle of love who just joined the SEGSP Rescue family in Florida after coming from a shelter in Alabama! Crash is neutered, heartworm negative, and overall a fantastic guy. Huge thanks to his temp foster mom Matica, his new foster family Keith and Eve, and his transport heroes Beth, Mark, and Ginny for getting him safely to his new adventure. This handsome boy is a gentle giant with a goofy personality. He’s definitely a ladies’ man — he follows his foster mom around like her shadow! For a young GSP, Crash is pretty chill. He enjoys short play sessions with his big sister, then settles in for a good nap (complete with a little snoring ). He loves soft toys, happy little hops, and relaxing on the deck. At night, he may whine for a few minutes in his crate but quickly settles and sleeps soundly through the night. He’s already mastered his house manners, with no accidents since day one! Crash will spend the next few weeks in foster care for his temperament evaluation before he’s ready for adoption — and we can already tell he’s going to make someone very happy. #fl 🐾✨ Welcome Reggie (FL) to SEGSP Rescue! ✨🐾
Reggie’s journey started at the shelter, where he came in emaciated with raw paw pads and no backstory. Despite his rough start, the moment his foster family met him, he greeted them with full-body wiggles and a heart ready for love. 💕 In just a few short weeks, Reggie has begun to heal, gain weight, and truly shine. He’s a typical energetic GSP who loves to play, point at everything (yes, even leaves 🍂), and run with his foster brother Jäger. But he’s also a cuddle bug who happily settles in at night in his crate. 🐶 Reggie is super smart and food-motivated — he already knows Sit, Stay, Paw, and Down (when he feels like listening 😉) and is working hard on his leash manners. He’s still very prey-driven, but with time and training, he’s sure to keep making progress. We’re so excited to have Reggie safe, happy, and officially part of the SEGSP Rescue family. 💙 Welcome home, sweet boy! #fl #SEGSRescue #WelcomeReggie #GermanShorthairedPointer Buckwheat, aka Buck (FL, 7 yo) is a very sweet guy according to his foster mom Susan.
She said, “His only issues are thunderstorms and separation anxiety. I have not left him alone yet. I got him a thundershirt which he seemed familiar with, but he still starts searching for hiding places during a storm. Other than the anxiety he easily adapted to living here. Likes people in general but I have not had him around children. He loves playing ball. Gets along fine with my pups but doesn't really engage in play. He does chase behind my Weim when he is doing his zoomies. …He is such a nice dog.” Buck needs some time to adjust and work on his anxiety before he’s ready for adoption. THANK YOU, Susan, for being so patient with his boy. He’s super lucky to have you (and so are we)! #fl #gsppatience #gspzoomies #gsprescue Coco (aka Nestle) Update from FL!
This sweet girl is making slow but steady progress, and we couldn’t be prouder! Today, she’s tackling her second heartworm treatment like a total champ. It hasn’t been an easy road, but Coco is showing her strength and resilience every step of the way. She’s still a little shy—new people and noises can be scary—but we’re starting to see glimmers of trust and comfort shine through. House training is going great, and even crate training (her least favorite!) is slowly getting better with patience and love. Coco has the gentlest spirit and so much love to give. We can’t wait to see her continue to blossom in the weeks ahead. (She’s even getting better at posing for pics —we’ll call that another win!) #FL |
