Dixie (TN) foster dog news

Please help us give a warm SEGSP welcome to Dixie, a beautiful liver and white full-blooded GSP who just made her way to Middle Tennessee! At nearly four years old, Dixie is spayed, housebroken, and crate trained (though she prefers not to be crated for long stretches). Huge thanks to Shane, Chad and Logan, who helped with her transport.  And Logan even temp fostered her overnight before she went to her foster home.  We are so grateful to Jeff and his SEGSP alum and fantastic foster sister, Josey, for welcoming her into their home as a foster.

Dixie is full of life and love! She’s dog-friendly, lives peacefully with a cat (after some initial curiosity), and absolutely adores children. She loves to cuddle, play fetch and tug-of-war, run and explore, and she’s even a fan of healthy snacks like carrots. She’s smart, too — she knows commands like sit, shake, lay down, stay, “go kennel,” “potty,” and “out.”

She does pull on a leash, so she’ll need someone to help her practice good walking manners. Dixie is fearless and curious — when the other dogs run from a strange noise, Dixie is the brave one who runs toward it to investigate! She’s used to having free roam of the house and does great when left alone.

Dixie will be in foster care for about a month before she’s ready to find her forever family. She’d thrive in a home with at least one other dog and lots of love to share.
