Luke (AL, 13 yo) foster dog news

We have another awesome update from our Hospice boy Luke’s Forever Foster family:

“Today Luke got to experience Lake Life, and I think he approves. We were on a walk by the water, and he decided that it was time to check it out. He marched straight down our boat ramp and in he went like he had done it a thousand times before. I had my bathing suit on, so I kicked off my shoes and hopped in to see how he did with swimming. He stood still for a few minutes and let the waves splash on him, then he headed my way. He started swimming but when the water hit his ears, he was not having it.  He went straight back to the step on the sea wall and was less than thrilled that I was asking him to walk back up the ramp as opposed to him, and his arthritis, trying to jump up to the top of the wall.

The situation was much improved with boat rides. The first one, he was cautious in his exploring and wanted to stay beside someone. We went for round 2 at dusk and he got brave, took his spot at the front of the boat (like all our other GSPs have done) and the wind finally caught his ears and he looked like he was ready to fly. Now, he’s giving us the ultimate sign of a great day at the lake…an early bedtime because you just can’t hang any longer with all the fun you’ve had.”

These updates make every single one of us smile because we know without SEGSP and his immensely caring forever foster family, Luke would have lived his final years in an outdoor kennel (no longer used for hunting) and would never have known the life of a beloved family dog.  Plus, he is physically now able to enjoy life because he now receives Dasuquin for his joints, Librela monthly for arthritis pain, Vetmedin for his heart, and Enalapril for his blood pressure (thanks to our donors).
