Maggie (GA, 5 yo) foster dog news

Welcome to SEGSP Maggie (GA, 5 yo)!

Her foster mom Angela said, “Maggie is one week post-spay and is doing great! She and Gus (formerly Odin) are best friends, and she is getting used to our cats. She loves to play hard and takes short little catnaps throughout the day.  After a rough start, she is finally sleeping through the night in a crate. We’re feeding her in a large wire kennel, and she lies in there during our mealtimes. She quickly learned to not beg at the table or counter surf.

Despite many, many, many potty breaks, she is still having occasional accidents in the house. I know this can be resolved with a little more time and effort. She has only been out of the animal shelter for 5 days. Health-wise, she is gaining badly needed weight. She was too thin at just 31 lbs. Now she’s up to 36. Maggie takes her antibiotics like a champ, twice a day. She begins heartworm treatment next week and will need some pharmaceutical support to stay calm and keep her heart rate down during treatment and recovery.  …Maggie is a smart girl, who is alert and interested in everything. She is affectionate and likes to snuggle or sit at your feet. She takes direction well. Maggie would be a wonderful addition to almost any home.”

Thank you, Angela, for fostering Maggie for 4 months. This is Angela’s 2nd foster dog for SEGSP (Gus being their first).  We look forward to more updates as she goes through treatment.
