Roo, (TN) foster dog news

1/19/2026

Picture
We want to welcome Roo (TN) to SEGSP. He was dumped some time ago and a wonderful family took him in to make sure he’s safe.  They reached out to us and are fostering him for us until his forever home is found.

From his foster mom, Elle, “Roo is a bundle of joy… smaller in stature but don’t worry he makes up for it with his friendly personality. We have yet to meet a dog or person that he doesn’t get along with. He’s currently  living with 4 other dogs, a cat, and horses. This boy loves to go for adventures, but at then end of the day also loves getting to cuddle.”

Roo will neutered soon and will then be working on his adoption bio.  Could you be the home for Roo?  Stay tuned for more updates.

HAppy Gilmore - SC - Foster Dog News

This very sweet boy officially joined us today in SC — and yes, his name is Happy Gilmore

Happy is about 3 years old, an unaltered male, weighing around 40 pounds. He already knows sit and paw, and his gentle personality has completely won us over. He’s been great with our pups and is incredibly sweet.

Like many dogs coming into rescue, Happy needs a little TLC. He’s heartworm negative (great news!) but did test positive for hookworms, which we’re addressing. He also has some sores and wounds on his right hip and thigh, so he’ll be getting the care he needs to heal.

Today included a good walk, dinner, and a nice warm bath — and we’re pretty sure he enjoyed every bit of it  As you can see, he’s already settling in nicely.

Happy will need to be neutered and complete a four-week temperament evaluation before he’s ready for adoption, but we’re excited to get to know him better and help him on his journey.

A HUGE thank you to Erik and Carla for opening their home and fostering this sweet boy. We truly could not do this without dedicated fosters like you — your love and commitment make all the difference!

Welcome to the good life, Happy Gilmore — brighter days are ahead!

Bailey - SC - Foster Dog News

Bailey (SC, 5 yo) had her first heartworm injection on New Years Eve. That probably was not the way she wanted to celebrate the new year, but it does mean she only has a couple months remaining of her treatment.

Her foster dad Paden said, “…she’s taking it easy! Between the steroids and not being able to get her energy out she’s been a little bit of a mess but we are making do.  She has her second and third injection on Feb 2/3!  Also, she’s finally gained weight and is now 37 pounds! Tiny but mighty and is very talkative.  She’s pulling my heart strings real bad haha!”

Paden is also fostering Jax, so this is his 4th and 5th foster dog for SEGSP – THANK YOU!!!

Pixie - NC - Foster Dog News

Pixie (NC) is finally heartworm-free, healthy and happy!  YAY Pixie!

Her foster mom Crystal said that it’s possible she won’t be going anywhere… it’s hard for her to imagine her leaving their house.  And added, “She is the sweetest girl although she is still very cautious and scared of new people and anything new or different in her environment. Not sure what she experienced before coming to us, but she is always on high alert.    We celebrate small victories of her becoming more relaxed in our home each day.  When she settles down, she is very loving and loves to cuddle at nighttime. Pixie is becoming more aware of treats and is starting to look for them when coming in from outside or going in her crate. She loves to be outside running and playing but is also good to curl up in her favorite chair for a nap. She doesn’t require being crated, she has been left alone in the home and never bothers a thing nor has accidents.   However, when we leave both dogs at home alone we do crate her which she doesn’t mind at all.”

We love seeing Pixie’s progress in rescue!  Thank you, Crystal, for everything you’re doing for her. We look forward to hearing Pixie’s decision about her forever home…

Look at that happy face! Jax (SC, 5 yo, 70 lbs.) is preparing his bio for the big day when he starts his search for a forever home.  His foster dad said he is a huge lover boy who wants all the cuddles and to gallop around the back yard all day.

Thank you, Paden, for fostering Jax, as well as Bailey (her update is coming soon)!  Keep a look-out on our website – Jax should be ready very soon.

P.S. Paden thinks Jax looks like Eeyore… what do you think?

Boone - NC - Foster Dog News

Our NC foster, Cody (2 yrs old), had his last big play day yesterday before starting heartworm treatment today. That means kennel rest and leash walks only for a while - so Vicki, his foster mom, made sure he soaked up one final day of FUN.

Yesterday quickly turned into The Cody & Boon Show (both fostered by Vicki; Cody has the red/blue collars). As she put it:  “They keep everyone entertained, which means I can just sit back, watch, and supervise the chaos. Just two good boys living their absolute best lives. And honestly? I am absolutely in love with these two. Wild, ridiculous, full-send chaos… and also such good boys. Sometimes the best therapy is just letting the dogs do their thing while you enjoy the show.”

Now it’s time for Cody to focus on healing, and he’s in the very best hands.  A huge thank you to Cody’s transporters Beth, Tricia, and Chelsi, to his temporary foster Kathy, and especially to Vicki, who will be fostering Cody long-term while he completes his heartworm treatment (about 4 months).

You’ve got this, Cody — brighter days are ahead!

Welcome to rescue, Roo (TN)! His foster mom, Elle, says, “Roo is about two years old and is a bundle of joy… smaller in stature but don’t worry he makes up for it with his friendly personality. We have yet to meet a dog or person that he doesn’t get along with. He’s currently living with 4 other dogs, a cat, and horses. This boy loves to go for adventures, but at the end of the day also loves getting to cuddle in bed.”

Wow, Roo, sounds like you’re a great boy! We can’t wait to learn more about you over the next month before you start looking for your forever home.

June - SC Courtesy Post

June (SC, 19 months old) has a special type of energy… her foster mom calls it WOW energy LOL!  Jamy said, “I have never had one with so much energy, and she is an absolute mess! She loves all types of toys. Runs hard all day long and crashes at night. She is so loving and gets very vocal if you are loving anyone other than her. Honestly, she is very vocal about anything that she wants. Has separation anxiety, but it has gotten a little better. She also did well with her spay last month.”

Thank you to Jamy and her family for fostering June!  It’s their 3rd time fostering for SEGSP and the first two times their foster dogs never left. Hmmmm…
