Welcome to one of our first 2026 GSPs – Gus (aka Sigfried, FL, 2 yo). He was found as a stray and was transferred to us via Clewiston Friends of Animals (thank you!). He has flea dermatitis, bi-lateral eye infections, ear infections, healing bite wounds on his legs and elbow calluses (probably from laying on concrete) but he’s healing quickly.
His foster dad said, “He came to us with no history. We named him Siegfried, Sig for short, and he is trying hard to learn it. He was neutered yesterday and in recovery with the cone of shame! He is a true GSP, a Velcro dog that just loves everyone. Says hello to every neighborhood dog, person, bush and tree. Sleeps through the night. No accidents in the house and almost kennel trained. Friendly to other dogs, however, will bark a lot at times at them, does not seem to be bothered by cats, sniffs the ones we have seen out on walks, no aggression. Recall is OK, needs basic command training. He would be great with other dogs, kids, cats and a yard to run around in!” Thank you so much to his foster parents Rob and Ellen who are new foster volunteers for SEGSP. Gus is being treated for his infections, and we look forward to him being healthy. Stay tuned… #fl Bailey (SC, 5 yo) had her first heartworm injection on New Years Eve. That probably was not the way she wanted to celebrate the new year, but it does mean she only has a couple months remaining of her treatment.
Her foster dad Paden said, “…she’s taking it easy! Between the steroids and not being able to get her energy out she’s been a little bit of a mess but we are making do. She has her second and third injection on Feb 2/3! Also, she’s finally gained weight and is now 37 pounds! Tiny but mighty and is very talkative. She’s pulling my heart strings real bad haha!” Paden is also fostering Jax, so this is his 4th and 5th foster dog for SEGSP – THANK YOU!!! #SC |
