Bo aka Bear and Bob (AL, 3 yo) - Foster Dog News

Prayers and well wishes for our bonded blind brothers, Bear and Bob, as they go in for their neuter today.  They also had their visit with an eye specialist and sadly, we didn’t receive the news we were hoping for.

Both boys have progressive rod/cone degeneration. She said it is a recessive gene that would only appear in 25% of the offspring. Unfortunately, the brothers are in that 25%. She said Bear is completely blind and Bob will lose the rest of the little vision he has in the near future.

Their foster mom, Darcy, said, “I don’t think it bothers either of them as they are happy and very smart boys. They are very cautious which makes them pretty laid back. I’ve only ever heard a few barks from Bob, and never a peep from Bear. They will be perfect low-key pets.”

Bear has 3 more months of heartworm treatment, and both boys are on their second round of dewormer for hookworms.  We are so very grateful that their foster mom Darcy has been willing to continue fostering these boys – and doing an amazing job!
