Kong, aka Moose(GA, 1 yo) - Foster Dog News

Welcome to rescue Kong, aka Moose (GA, about 1 yo )!  His foster mom, Erin, sent us this update…

"Moose is a wonderful boy and we are enjoying him very much!  So far, he is a healthy boy to our knowledge. We are hoping to have all of his vetting complete very soon but coordinating it has taken more time than I would have hoped. Moose is not fully potty trained, primarily because he still wants to mark. It seems to be improving with up and down days, but the best news is that he will keep a clean kennel consistently. 

Moose really enjoys going on walks and does this daily with his “pack”. He is great on leash and very responsive when corrected. Moose enjoys hunting in the yard and taking breaks to bury his head in the water on the sundeck of our pool. He won’t hunt or run for long before coming back to us to make sure everything is ok:) He is very dependent on his humans and does not like to go far from us for long at all. More than any of these things, he loves to just sit and cuddle, or “hover" over his people (just stand on us and not move…it’s a little odd, lol). He wants his head to be buried in people and get all the love he can! Moose has a very short attention span for playing with toys but will play for short periods. He desperately wants to play with the others in his “pack”, but they are slow to let him in. His invitations and requests to join in play are so gentle and beautiful, I know his day will come! 

His energy level seems low compared to what we expected for a GSP. He is our first, but our Irish doodle who is 2 years older than him has a much higher activity level than him. This has been unexpected, but kind of nice. He will willingly climb into his kennel at bedtime. So far, we love him! It’s still an adjustment period and I think he is still warming up, so there may be more to tell in the near future.”
