Otis (FL, 1 yo, 60 lbs.) Foster Dog News

Welcome to SEGSP Otis (FL, 1 yo, 60 lbs.)!  
His foster mom Connie reports, “Otis is doing well.  He's proving to be typical for a young GSP. His speeds are on / off and he loves a good cuddle.    He knows a few commands and is house and crate trained.  He's friendly with people, has not been tested with anyone younger than 12. He's smart, learned the dog door quickly and we are working on recall.  He has gone on a few car rides and while he doesn't settle, he's not overly anxious. Otis was not familiar with leash walking, and in general will need some manners for the big world outside.  We are currently working with a gentle leader and repetition.  He is leash reactive to dogs, and thinks bicycles and squirrels are to be chased. His other fault is jumping up and counter surfing - he's curious about what happens on those kitchen counters! Otis is currently 60 pounds - he could probably be 65-68 at a good weight. He seems healthy but has started to scratch a bit - so I'll keep an eye on that. …he has adjusted at a good pace.”
