Ruger (2.5 yo, TN) foster dog news

Everyone, meet Ruger (TN), a handsome 2.5-year-old German Shorthaired Pointer who is officially joining SEGSP Rescue!

Ruger is a total sweetheart — loving, affectionate, and convinced that everyone who walks through the door is there just to see him. He’s wonderful with kids, gets along well with other dogs, and even lived peacefully with a cat (though he does enjoy a little rough play). He’s been through basic obedience and is a smart, eager-to-please boy who knows sit, lay down, place, leave it, kennel, and has a solid recall.

This boy is house-trained with zero accidents since being in his foster home, sleeps comfortably in a crate, and loves being wherever his people are. Ruger enjoys camping trips, car rides, playing ball, and of course… food and treats. He will bark when someone approaches his home — a good protector — but settles easily, even during fireworks (the TV helps!). He also gets along great with his three four-legged foster siblings.

Ruger will be neutered while in foster care and is already proving to be an amazing companion. His only “bad habit”? A little counter and trash surfing, especially if butter or cornbread is involved  — we can’t say we blame him.

A huge thank you to the Jants family for assisting with Ruger’s transport and helping him safely begin this next chapter, and to the Aistrop family for opening their hearts and home as Ruger’s foster family. We couldn’t do this without amazing volunteers like you.

We’re so excited to have Ruger in rescue and can’t wait to watch him shine as he gets ready for his forever home. Welcome to the SEGSP family, sweet boy!
