Penelope in Florida
Hi everyone, my name is Penelope and I’m a very happy girl because I’m officially done with my heartworm treatment and ready to find my forever family.
I’m about 3 years old and currently am in west Florida. I ended up in a shelter in Chipley, FL and my family never came for me. I kept hearing that I probably wasn’t going to be saved. I was really afraid until I was taken to my foster home and they made me feel safe and loved. I do get a little nervous again when I’m left alone so having either a human or a canine companion around me helps a lot. I know that will get better with time and finally knowing that I’m “home” and loved and I don’t have to worry about ending up in a shelter again.
I’m still very young so I would like a yard to run and chase critters in. My foster Mom says I’m sweet, very smart, and she knows I always want to please my humans. I also love watching TV (aka “the box”). I sits still until an animal appears on screen and then I spring to action barking and growling at the critter. I even barked at the Energizer Bunny once and it made my foster Mom laugh. Humans have so many funny devices to keep me busy!
I admit I’ve also been pretty lonely without my canine brother Casper who passed away recently. I also went through heartworm treatment so that was a bummer as well. But things are looking up now that I’m healthy and I’m mentally very sharp…I even can hold my potty (my foster Mom is very happy about that). Basically, I’m smart and eager to please – a very good combination.
I’m great with all dogs but not sure about cats since I haven’t been around any. All humans are great. I’m also a very protective girl! If there is anything or anyone in the yard I’ll put myself between you and that object and bark and growl until you tell me it’s okay. And of course In point at all the birds in the trees! They’ve been driving me crazy!
I’m great on a leash, house training worked, and I’m also crate trained. Not bad considering I’ve never been exposed to any of those rules before. My foster Mom says I’m a real sweetie who will make someone an excellent companion! If you think you’re the one for me, please complete an adoption application (if you haven’t already) and email my foster mom Lisa.
Note: Penelope is fully vetted and temperament tested. Her adoption fee is $375.
