ADOPTION PENDING!!

Good Day, my name is Ranger and I am in search of my forever home.  I’m a little over a year old and, SQUIRREL, I’m very smart and, SQUIRREL, well I’m easily distracted.  As I get older I’m getting better at that but it’s just in my nature.

When I came to rescue I had some swollen joints, a little stomach issue, chewed up ears, some hairless spots and I was super underweight, but it didn’t keep me from hunting those birds I saw out the back window during my transport.  My former owner said I was not a hunter, but I think it’s all in how you define hunting. I’m perfectly happy hunting my backyard and keeping birds, squirrels and any other small animal out of my space (well for a little while…they can come back so I can chase them all over again). I would love to some day have a doggy door so I can go in and out as I please since I’m such a good boy – now that would be really cool and then I can surprise the squirrels whenever I want.

I need a family that will continue to work with me, teach me new tricks, and spend a lot of time with me so I don’t get bored and into trouble.  I’m house-trained and crate-trained.  I’m a pup so I LOVE toys and good tough things for me to chew.  I know my basic commands like “sit” and “come” and “heel” but if there’s a small furry creature in sight then all bets are off if I listen to you (I’m working on that but hey, I’m only 1 so it may take some time).  I need someone who would like to teach me new things and not get mad at me when my true nature kicks in…SQUIRREL (and my youth).  If you use food or a clicker with me I like that and will learn faster.

I am very respectful of other dogs and would love a canine sibling to play with. I get along with dogs because I’m really good at listening to other dog's signals for space, even the VERY tiny signals.   I love all humans but I’m a bit exuberant so perhaps no really small ones so they don’t accidentally get knocked down.  I’m a typical GSP in that I am immediately friendly, and I just love affection. I have loads of energy, and I tend to pull hard on the leash, but I’m working on that.  I’m not a jumper and I’m also respectful of furniture.

So to recap, I need a home with a fenced yard to play and hunt squirrels in (preferably with lots of trees and squirrels and a doggy door so I can surprise them).  My family should be very attentive and want to play with me and teach me new things.  And finally, I want a family that will cuddle with me in the evenings and love me for the rest of my life.

If you are interested in meeting me, please complete an adoption application (if you haven’t already) and email my foster Mom Nikki.

Oh yeah, almost forgot, I’m an adult GSP that has been neutered, fully vetted and temperament tested so my adoption fee is $375.
