Hello! I am Leonardo, aka Leo! I am a 7-year-old neutered male GSP currently living in metro Atlanta with my foster family since late December 2024. This is not my first time to be posted here, as I was previously adopted in 2021 by a wonderful Mom. Fortunately, the kind folks at SEGSPR took me back when my Mom became less ambulatory. I previously came into rescue when a good Samaritan contacted SEGSPR after taking in a neglected dog that was left outside in the cold with no water or food.
Leo weighs approx. 45 pounds and is an all-around awesome dog! He LOVES playing inside or out, with or without his foster siblings (extra-large and small), with adults and children (over the age of six), going for walks, swimming in a river, sitting for treats, and curling up for a long nap! He plays fetch and keep away, has been cat friendly in the past (currently unknown), and chasing small things (lizards, squirrels, birds, etc. but ignores deer). He does not seem to mind getting a bath or a manicure and is leash trained. While Leo enjoys being around others, he is not ‘clingy’ and will curl up on the couch or a dog bed if he has nothing better to do. Leo does really well in his crate, going in on command, remaining quiet while resting or sleeping, and even to ensure everyone gets to eat their dinner. Overnight, he sleeps in an armchair in the bedroom and does not have any separation issues. Leo absolutely knows his name, responds well to commands with a treat reward, and has quickly adjusted to routines in his foster home. Leo is especially astute at helping clean off countertops and ensuring his canine siblings clean their food bowls, so some care is needed to ensure he does not eat anything which does not belong to him. Luckily, he responds REALLY well to all training that involves food as a reward. Leo does have some anxiety related to car rides and some skin sensitivity; accordingly, he takes a daily prescription for his skin (Apoquel) and has a PRN prescription for anxiety. He will bark when the doorbell rings or a delivery person comes; he does not seem to mind fireworks or thunder; he tends to avoid vacuum cleaners, leaf blowers, and lawn mowers. Leo/Leonard/Leonardo is UTD on vaccines, on heartworm and flea/tick prevention, house-trained, neutered, and microchipped. His adoption fee is $375.00. If interested, please fill out an Adoption Application and contact his foster mom Lynn at 404-680-2642 or [email protected]. Comments are closed.
