Hi! I’m Benelli. I’m 7 years old, but my foster mom’s veterinarian thinks I might be younger. When I came to rescue I was really anxious and confused but I just love this new life and I’m comfy with the finer things in life thanks to my foster family.
I love to be outside. I could just stay out there for hours with my nose to the ground, sometimes sniffing in the same place for long periods of time. I’m tracking moles, which are all over the place in my foster family’s neighborhood. Sometimes, I try to bring one to my foster mom but I stop when she tells me to. There are a lot of rules in human land and I’m super smart, but sometimes I have to be reminded. Don’t worry, I catch on quick! And my name’s really cute so I’ll pay attention when you say it.
Speaking of my name, I have excellent recall! I also respond well to my e-collar, but I haven’t even tried to leave my yard. Not that I don’t love to run free, I do! But why would I want to leave my foster family – they’re awesome and if they’re with me I prefer to stay right there. When we go to the nearby game lands, I love to run through the tall grass, jump over logs, and splash in puddles and ponds. But you would need to work with me on my e-collar like my foster family does before I can be trusted in a new place with a new family.
I’m still learning how to live (and love) with other dogs and small humans. I like my human and canine siblings, but I don’t like it when they try to take my toys from me. Hey, I know they like toys too so the toys get put away a lot (not cool, but I understand)..I’m working on it, and have come a long way since I joined my foster family, but I still don’t like to share my stuffed turtle. I just love that guy. I would never bite anyone over him, but a dirty look usually does the trick and I’m left alone.
I do lots of cute things too. When my humans come home I like to grab my toy and run around the house carrying it and wagging my tail which is my way of saying “welcome home!” My ideal family would have bigger kids that don’t play with my toys and if you have a dog I prefer one that is nice to me (and won’t try to take my stuffed turtle). I’d really like to get a lot of attention and love, cause I didn’t get a whole lot of from where I came and hey, I think I deserve a lot of that (I know, I’m modest …NOT LOL!). I’m very smart and alert, and would really like to go to dog college. HAHAHA, just kidding, but I’d love to have you teach me new things and that will help us bond as a family.
I do have some bad habits, so here goes…I also counter surf if given the chance. My foster mom doesn’t like to talk about the pimento cheese and butter incidents. Also, an entire loaf of French bread went missing during the Super Bowl. No one witnessed that one, so I’m pleading the Fifth. But hey, that’s not bad, right? Who isn’t tempted by pimento cheese, butter and French bread?! Oh yeah, if you bathe me I’ll let you know how I feel about that by drying myself on your rug LOL! Of course you can bypass that by giving me a bath outside and if you towel me down, I won’t mind the massage at all!
If you’ll let me, I’d love to sleep with you. I promise to snuggle right up next to you, and you won’t have to worry about your feet getting cold, because I love to be under covers, so I can keep them warm for you! I’m a bit anxious about crates, so I’d love to be allowed to just be free in your house, and I do great with this, as long as, you know, you don’t leave pimento cheese, butter, or French bread out where I can get it! I haven’t disturbed anything else in my family’s house. I’m a good boy!
I’m worm free too (I’ve been told humans like that), neutered and recently checked out by a great vet who said everything looks great. And then I got a dog biscuit (I just love that guy)! So I’m healthy AND handsome – such a deal! Did I say microchipped? Yeah, that too…and SEGSP will register in my new family’s name once I’m adopted.
To sum this up, I would prefer a forever home with a fenced yard so I can wander safely, bigger children (like 16+ maybe…i.e. no toy competition…do 16 year olds still like toys? Not sure). I’d like to meet any dogs you have first so we both know we like each other, an active family that will take me with them to play then let me crawl in bed with them, and most of all a family that puts their food away so I don’t get in trouble taking the French bread off the counter. Oh…and someone that will love me forever!
If you’re interested in me please complete an adoption application (if you haven’t already) and email my foster mom Beth at firstname.lastname@example.org
P.S. This cuteness, intelligence and love-ability doesn’t come cheap…SEGSP is asking $375. They say it covers most of my expenses so there’s that…
