Hi GSP family, My name is Boone! I am 2 years old; 50-pound neutered male and I am looking for my forever home. I just recovered from heart worm treatment, boy was that a long 4 months of not being able to play and chase birds. I love to play fetch, I have mad swimming skills and will play in the pond or river with you all day if you will let me, I also love to chase birds and bumble bees, the bees don't taste so good but hey chasing them is sooo much fun. I love attention and I can sometimes be very pushy to get my belly rubs (can you blame me)? I know basic commands, sit, lay down and sometimes I'll even stay but I could use some work on that one.
I am fully house trained, but I do get excited over new people and sometimes I happy pee when they walk through the door (I just can't help it). I would really like to find someone that has a giant yard with a tall fence that I can run in. It takes a very long time for me to wear down my energy so that I am not going stir crazy in the house. Due to me being so strong I think I also would be better suited for a strong and patient person as I like to pull really hard on my leash, my foster mom says I could still use a good bit of obedience training (pshh what does she know).
I'm fully crate trained but I do like to sleep in the bed at night or sometimes I enjoy sitting up by myself and just hanging out on the couch while I watch for intruders out the window. I don't mess with much in the house but there have been a couple times I may have stolen a shoe or two, I mean in my defense they were laying right in front of me and looked incredibly tasty. I have not been around many other dogs while living with my foster mom, but I have done perfect with my bratty GSP foster sister. I really enjoy stealing all her toys and chasing her around the house. I will say I have done really well with the dogs that I have come across while out hiking with my foster family. My foster mom says that my temperament and kindness is wonderful, I must say I agree with her. Like I'm a super loving dude you guys !!!!!!
Since I have a little problem with chasing cars, it would also be ideal for me to not live right on a busy road, even with a fence in place because I can jump high. I've not jumped any fences so far, but my foster mom thinks it could be very possible for me to clear a six-foot fence since I jump so high when I get excited at the front door when it is time to go outside.
My foster mom has introduced me to her horses and OMG those things are HUGE. At first, I barked a lot at them because I really thought they were giant monsters but now I'm okay around them. Livestock, chickens and all that cool stuff is still very new to me so I really don't know if I am completely okay with all that stuff yet, but I believe with training I could be fine being a farm dog. (CAT'S), well I am not sure if I like cats or not because I have not been around any to find out. I think I could possibly be okay with them if they were very sweet to me but then again, I am a dog and dogs’ rule and cats drool.
My ideal person / family would be a highly active one as I have tons of energy and love to be on the move all the time. My foster mom says I’m still very much a puppy. I think a home with small children would not suit me well because sometimes I get too excited and don't watch where I am going and I'm afraid I might be more than small kids can handle.
Hiking, hunting, biking, dock diving and other very active things would be really good for me so if you think I would be a good fit for you and you can keep up with my energy level, give really great belly rubs, love me unconditionally, be super patient with my hyper activity please give my foster momma "Morgan" a shout so you can hear lots more about just how super cool I am.
Since I’m a happy, healthy boy, UTD on all shots my adoption fee is $375. Please fill out an adoption application and email my foster mom Morgan.
