SEGSP Rescue Dogs Ready for Adoption
My name is Duke and I am looking to fetch a family! I am a gorgeous big 5-year old boy with beautiful liver markings. I will fetch ALL DAY LONG. I would love a large chuck-it and plenty of the extra tough balls and a friend to throw them for me. I would like a large yard. Fencing required, but height of fencing is negotiable. I do respect the fence-particularly when used in conjunction with e-collar training, but I prefer and need supervision to make sure I don’t wander (those balls aren’t going to throw themselves!).
I would do best with a family with e-collar experience or willingness to learn. My foster mom says I would make a great jogging partner. I do great on a gentle leader head collar and have a terrific gait and endurance. I love the water! I really enjoy when my foster mom gets the hose out and lets me play in the spray. If you have a pool and you’re willing to let me swim, I would love that too! I love a jolly ball and all of the enrichment activities my foster mom has done with me including the kong wobbler and the oversized snuffle mat! I ride great in a car and do very well in my kennel overnight. I am a bit vocal if I’m in there are people are up and about and having fun. FOMO is real! My foster mom took me all over town and even to work and I did great in public! I also love bath time and don’t even mind nail trim or ear wash time if you have a nice treat for me. I know how to sit and lay down and drop. I’m working on leave it and I have a really hard time with “stay” but I’m definitely trying! As I said, I am a big boy (about 80 pounds). My foster mom is not a short woman and when I stood on my hind legs to see what she was holding, we were eye to eye. So I could definitely knock smaller, less stable children over.I would love a home with older, sturdy children who are unlikely to get knocked over or hurt if I get excited. My foster mom recommends no children under 4 feet tall and the taller the better. My foster mom is going to give you some more details about me, but trust me, I’m a catch! Duke is looking for an experienced or very coachable owner. He is more headstrong than a typical GSP. He is not reactive toward other animals from a distance and while leashed, but he is unpredictable in his interactions with other animals when they get too close for comfort. Therefore, he will be adopted out as an only pet for his safety and the safety of other animals. Duke is a very independently minded dog. He will succeed and thrive in an environment that is structured. He will do best in a home with consistent routines and not much variation in routine. We will be requiring an obedience course for Duke and his adopters to ensure you both speak the same language and are off on the right foot as you become a family. We will require proof of enrollment at the time of adoption. Duke is healthy, UTD on shots, microchipped, and neutered. His adoption fee is $475 with a $100 refund once you provide proof of completion of a basic obedience course. If you think you’re Duke’s forever family, please complete the adoption application and then email Duke’s foster mom, Sarah at adoptDuke.SEGSP@gmail.com. Comments are closed.
