​Woody is looking for his final-forever home. 
 
Meet Woody- a six-year-old sweet boy, with lots of love and energy. Woody has had his share of rough times in his life. When he originally came into rescue his story was not known, but it was obvious he had a rough start in life. He had to be quarantined for six full months before he entered rescue back in 2021, but we waited for him eagerly. Once he entered rescue he thrived and once adopted, Woody thrived further in his family environment. He was an overall great dog, but once the family had children, Woody did not know how to be anything but the dog he was and the child got knocked down. Woody was surrendered back to the rescue. 
 
Woody has been with our trainer at Kanupp Kennels for assessment and he has gotten high marks!! He is very people friendly (has never meet a person he didn’t like) and very much enjoys being the center of attention. He’s very attentive and playful. He knows how to sit, stay, come, lay down, potty, yes, no, kennel up, speak, down, and “go get the ball." Woody is recall, crate and leash trained and he loves a good game of fetch. We have been told he has done great with other dogs, in groups or one on one and he loves to meet new people. He was noted to react to small dogs at times (when they were barking excessively) but he did ignore them at other times. Woody, like many GSP’s needs a home with no livestock, small pets, chickens or cats. He will also be looking for a home with no young children. Woody would do great in a family with other dogs and an active lifestyle. 
 
Woody is also looking for a family who is willing to go meet him with his trainer at the Kennel in Hickory, NC. We want his forever family to see how he does on a leash as well as how to be a part of his training moving forward. Woody deserves his final happy ever after.
