REVIEWING APPLICATIONS

Hi there!

My name is Radar and I’m a 3 1/2-year-old German Shorthair Pointer. I enjoy walks, hiking, playing with my foster siblings but most of all I love cuddling with my foster mom. She says I should have been named Romeo because I make everyone I meet fall in love with me and my gentle loving hugs I like to give. I’m your typical energetic GSP when I’m outside, I like to run and play and I’m perfectly happy by myself or with other dogs large and small. I am very tall and sometimes don’t realize how strong I am so I might frighten or accidentally hurt little dogs, but I do love them. Also, no children under the age of six. I came to rescue with severe anxiety and fear, but we have worked really hard to get me past that. I am now kennel trained and although I prefer to be with the humans, I’m perfectly content in my kennel. I can also be trusted in the house alone; I just curl up and go to sleep until you get home. My foster mom says when I go to my forever home, I will probably revert back to having anxiety for the first two weeks so if you think you might love me enough to bring me home, I will need you to be really patient with me the first two weeks but I promise you it’s worth it once I settle in and gain that much needed trust between owner and dog. My foster mom has me loose leash walking trained, and off leash trained now so the possibilities of the fun we can have are endless. I absolutely love car rides and going places with my foster mom. I’m standoffish to new people especially men but I’m quickly learning not to be and will continue to work on it. I get frightened in my sleep if other dogs jump on the furniture in on or come near the dog bed in sleeping in and I grumble at them. My foster mom says this is a common GSP trait, but she does not allow it, so I lose furniture privileges when I get this way. I’m a work in progress is what she tells me. My perfect home definitely has to have a female because I’m just too goody and clumsy but that’s all the rules other than lots of patience. I’m an easy going well behaved GSP that just wants to find my forever home so I can finally feel safe and secure and never have to leave home again.
