Major Sargent (AL) - Courtesy Listing

Courtesy Post: Major Sargent – Loyal German Shorthaired Pointer Seeking a Home of His Own
Meet Major Sargent, a handsome 3½-year-old German Shorthaired Pointer weighing 71 pounds. This sweet, loyal boy is looking for a home where he can be the center of attention and enjoy the active lifestyle he loves.
Major was rehomed in June 2025 from a family who originally purchased him from a breeder. His current owner has worked hard to help him settle in, but after moving to a smaller living space and observing increasing tension between Major and another resident dog, it has become clear that Major would be happiest as the only pet in the home.
Major is neutered, heartworm negative, and current on his vaccinations. He is due for his next  vaccinations in July and owner is willing have them done  before adoption. He has no known medical issues.
Major has a wonderful personality that combines many classic German Shorthaired Pointer traits with a few surprises. He is playful, loyal, affectionate with his family, and enjoys being active outdoors. At the same time, he is somewhat laid-back for a GSP and enjoys relaxing with his people when the day's adventures are done. He can be stubborn at times but responds well to consistency and routine.
He is house trained, crate trained, and knows basic commands including sit, down, and stay. His recall is still a work in progress and will require continued management and training.
Major loves outdoor activities such as hiking, running, and long walks. He occasionally enjoys a game of fetch and would especially benefit from having a securely fenced yard where he can safely run and explore at his own pace. Although he has not been trained as a hunting dog, he thoroughly enjoys chasing bugs and investigating the outdoors.
Major does well with children, though because of his size and occasional clumsiness, he may be best suited for families with older children. He can become shy around new people and may initially keep his distance when guests arrive, but he typically settles quickly and prefers to quietly observe until he feels comfortable.
His ideal home would be one where he is the only pet. While he can interact appropriately with many dogs in public settings and generally does well at dog parks, he does not enjoy living with other dogs and is particularly uncomfortable around small dogs. He also does not do well with cats.
Major is sensitive to loud noises and can be somewhat timid with unfamiliar people, so a patient family willing to help him build confidence would be a great match.
The perfect home for Major would be an active family that enjoys spending time outdoors and wants a loyal companion to join them on adventures. In return, they will gain a devoted, loving dog who forms strong bonds with his people and thrives when given structure, exercise, and affection.

Jet (AL) - Courtesy Listing

Courtesy Post: Jet – Sweet Black German Shorthaired Pointer mix Looking for His Forever Home
Meet Jet, a handsome black German Shorthaired Pointer mix who is searching for a loving home of his own.
Jet was found abandoned in a neighborhood in Semmes, Alabama, around May 2026. Despite being dumped, he has proven to be an incredibly affectionate and loyal dog who simply wants to be with his people.
Jet is a neutered male weighing approximately 49 pounds. His exact age is unknown. He is currently heartworm positive and is being treated using the slow-kill method, with his first month of heartworm prevention already administered. He will receive his required rabies vaccination before adoption. Veterinary records and information can be provided through his veterinarian.
Jet's caregivers describe him as an extremely sweet dog who forms strong bonds with his family. He enjoys being close to his humans and is happiest when he can accompany them on outdoor activities. He loves running, helping with chores around the property, and staying nearby while his people garden or work outside.
Jet is crate trained, knows the "sit" command, walks well on a leash, and is easy to catch and handle. He stays close to home and enjoys exploring the outdoors while keeping an eye on his people.
He gets along well with children, other dogs, and most farm animals. However, Jet has a strong prey drive and should not be placed in a home with cats, chickens, or other small animals. He particularly enjoys chasing squirrels and hunting rats and armadillos around the property.
Jet has no bite history and no known behavioral issues beyond his prey drive toward cats and poultry. He is comfortable in a crate and does well indoors, although he is energetic and active when outside. His foster family notes that he can be quite attached to his people and will cry when separated from those he has bonded with.
The ideal home for Jet would be an active family with a securely fenced yard or a country home where he can safely exercise and explore. He would thrive with owners who appreciate the intelligence, loyalty, and energy level of a German Shorthaired Pointer.
His current caregiver says:
"He is very sweet, good in the crate, and only wants to be outside if you are outside too. He stays close by while doing chores or gardening and keeps himself busy chasing squirrels and hunting rats. I would keep him if he was okay with cats!"

🐾 Courtesy Rehoming: Zuma 🐾
📍 Dothan, Alabama
Meet Zuma, a 2-year-old, 60-pound spayed female mixed-breed dog looking for a home that matches her energy, intelligence, and natural hunting instincts.
Zuma was rescued in Tallahassee, Florida, and has completed obedience training. She is crate-trained, knows her commands, and is extremely food-motivated, making her a quick learner. She is also very loyal and makes an excellent watchdog, always alerting her family when someone is on the property.
About Zuma:
✅ Spayed
✅ Crate trained
✅ Obedience trained
✅ Up-to-date on rabies vaccination
✅ Smart, loyal, and highly trainable
✅ Loves enrichment activities and outdoor adventures
Important Things to Know:
  • Zuma is a very high-energy dog and needs plenty of daily physical and mental stimulation.
  • She has a strong prey drive and will chase small animals.
  • She plays rough with other dogs and may only be suitable with confident, large dogs that can match her energy and establish boundaries.
  • She can jump a 4-foot fence and will chew items if left with insufficient enrichment.
  • She does not do well around children and would thrive in an adult-only home.
  • She occasionally nips when highly focused in "hunting mode" and may jump on people if she spots an animal she wants to chase.
Ideal Home:
Zuma would do best on a large property or in a home with a securely fenced yard, plenty of room to run, and owners who understand active working or hunting-type dogs. She needs a family committed to providing regular exercise, enrichment, and structure.
Despite her challenges, Zuma is a loving, intelligent dog with a lot to offer the right home. She simply needs an environment where her natural instincts and energy can be appropriately channeled.
