Tucker - MS

Tucker is a 2 year old, GSP/Border Collie, unaltered male from West Point, MS looking for a forever home with lots of land, cuddles, plenty of friends and a family that is home often and wants him to be included in family trips.

He loves to cuddle; hates milk bones; loves to ride in a car or truck; loves to be outside; loves kids, other dogs, horses, and cats; loves to share his food (and invite himself to yours); loves to sit in the sun and look out of the window; will steal all of your mac and cheese if you don’t watch the pan; and love, love, loves to run. He is a sweetheart and deserves so much more than his current family can give him right now. 

When Tucker was adopted in January 2017, we fell in love with him and his gentle spirit. At the time, we lived on a 15 acre property in the middle of nowhere and were actively traveling and spending time outside hiking, swimming, running, and exploring (a few things Tucker loves more than anything). On top of this, we could both spend uninterrupted time with him.

Unfortunately, job changes meant a move with Tucker to a city and new home in the middle of town. Instead of having more than enough room to run and chase squirrels, birds, and field mice, he was confined to the half-acre backyard - not nearly enough room for him, and becoming bored, he learned how to climb the 6 foot fence and escape. He needs much more exercise then we can give him. 

Because of the change in his life, his anxiety is high, constantly crying and worried; he wants to be close to you at any chance he gets, mostly because of the GSP shadow-dog trait, but also because it’s as if he’s afraid we won’t come home. He now knows how to open our screen door and get out of the house to come look for us.  Because of this he needs a family that is home often and will bring him with whenever possible – he will be a wonderful companion, especially once he knows you will always come home.

In order to ensure that Tucker goes to the best possible home, please provide a vet reference (with at least 1 year of history with that vet), a character reference, and that you already own or are able to give him ample land to run and explore.

He is not trained with an E-collar and is not trained to hunt, but has strong instincts and an A+ nose. He will eat you out of house and home while still looking like he hasn’t been fed in 3 days, even if he has been checked for worms every month and nothing comes back positive. (Seriously, we don’t know what it is with this dog and food. He loves it. He should be 900 lbs.)

All we ask is that you love him unconditionally and give him the opportunities we’re not able to anymore. This transition will be very, very hard for him, and because of that, we’d love to be able to keep in touch with his new owners to be able to see pictures or keep track of him to make sure he’s okay.
