Trooper - FL

Hello! My name is Trooper.

I am an eight year old German Short-haired Pointer, although I’ve never done any pointing! I do have AKC papers, but I’m really just a lovable pet who loves my family! We live in North Florida and have a fenced in yard so I can run and explore all I want, but I mostly like to stay inside with my peeps. My mom and dad put me through some training when they got me at the age of one, most of which I remember. I can sit and lay down, but best of all, if you put me in place while you are eating or when you have company, I will stay there until you tell me I am free. I will also come when called unless I am stalking a squirrel or lizard – then it’s hard to get my attention. I’m not allowed on furniture and that’s fine with me.

I have a bed to rest on and don’t mind lying on a rug or the bare floor. I sleep in my kennel every night and even let my mom know when it’s time to go to bed, usually around 9:30. A few years ago, I tore an ACL, then tore the other one a year and a half after that! I recovered from both surgeries, and it hasn’t slowed me down a bit. Other than that, I am a neutered, healthy boy, weighing in at about 88 lbs. I am also a sweet boy who loves to be petted, get groomed, and don’t even mind going to the vet when I need to. I get along with other dogs, but don’t care much for cats and will chase them if given the opportunity.

I am a people person but have not been around many small children so I’m not sure how that would go. I am chipped in case I get lost, but I would never want that to happen! Unfortunately, my mom and dad can’t care for me anymore. They are getting up in years (don’t tell them I said that!) and have some health issues so they just can’t do it. As much as I love them and they love me, I am looking for a new home with a family I can love just as much and who will love and be able to care for me. If that is you, please email my mom, Ann, at anntatem48@gmail.com. (There will be a rehoming fee.)
