Hello to everyone, my name is Cookie and I am living in Chattanooga, TN. I believe I am about 2 years old. I’m a very sweet girl and the calmest GSP ever!!! I do love to be petted and loved-on just like all GSP’s. My temperament is pretty chilled and laid back. I may not be very old, but I have been through a lot in my life. Like many dogs in rescue I was dumped off one night by my owners (I won’t call them family since real family’s don’t do that). But luckily a family took me in for a while before contacting SEGSP Rescue.
I had some issues to work through while in rescue. I growl at other dogs and I don’t know why. My foster Mom tells me to stop and I mind quite well. My foster brother has been very patient with me. I wouldn’t play with him for almost 2 months. But now I am trying. I grab all his toys and put them on my bed. Not because I want to play with them, I just don’t want him to play with them. I know, it’s kinda funny LOL! If he comes near my bed I will growl at him but he is understanding of my insecurities and just walks away.
The sweet family that originally found me said I would growl at their 12yr old daughter but not their older boys. Since I have been with my foster family I have celebrated Halloween, 2 Thanksgivings and Christmas dinners. I did fabulous around 20+ people, even small children from 6 months to 5 yrs old. I stayed outside during dinner and when I came back in and got some good belly rubs, I went straight to my comfy bed and chilled out.
My foster Mom believes I would do best with a family with older kids or no kids. She also thinks I would do good with no other dogs or only one that will understand I am the Alpha. A fenced yard would be a must because I do enjoy sunny weather and I don’t ever want to wander and get lost – it’s very scary being alone. I have never attempted to jump a fence. I will bark really mean to the neighbor’s dogs but only because they bark at me first (it’s a dog thing). The dog on the other side doesn’t bother me so I don’t bother him.
I am comfortable in a kennel in the family room, but I really love my comfy bed in the master bedroom so I know you’re close by. Most days I stay inside on my bed because my foster family is home a lot. But they have left me for a few hours and when they return, I am usually still chillin in my bed.
I’m house-trained (I had 2 accidents when I first arrived in October, but none since) and I’m quite proud of that!!! I let my humans know when I have to go outside, sometimes I bark to come back in but, I have also learned to open the door (see I’m really smart)! I also have to admit I have one funny flaw....I whine when the alarm clock goes off, or the dryer buzzes, or anything that beeps. My foster Mom thinks it is funny and smart. She hasn’t overslept since I have been here. Maybe my name should be Alarm? LOL!
If you are interested in adopting me please complete an adoption application (if you haven’t already) and please email my foster Mom Dottie at AandEmom@ebpfi.com. She can answer all of your questions and hopefully I’ll get to meet you.
P.S. I am spayed, vaccinated and temperament tested so my adoption fee is $375.
