Ellie is a stunning 2.5-year-old German Shorthaired Pointer with legs for days, a joyful spirit, and a heart that wants nothing more than to be with her people.
Her life didn’t start out easy—Ellie was once chained to a tree. Thankfully, kind-hearted people stepped in, helped secure her surrender, and reached out to SEGSP so she could finally get the chance she deserved. Now safe in foster care, Ellie has truly blossomed.
Ellie is housebroken, crate trained, and does wonderfully when left alone—either crated or loose in the house. She’s respectful of the home with no issues chewing furniture, clothes, shoes.  However, she is quite the snoop, and may get into the trash if left out with something yummy smelling in it. She can sleep comfortably in a crate, a dog bed, or snuggled up in bed with her people.
She is extremely smart, learns very quickly, and responds beautifully to a calm voice. Ellie is e-collar trained and has excellent recall—a simple tone is all she needs to get her attention and come running. She knows basic commands like come and sit and is very eager to please (especially if food is involved!).
Ellie is very food motivated and will counter surf if food is left out, likely due to going without food earlier in life. When food is put away, there are no issues. She should be fed separately from other dogs, as she is protective of her food bowl, though she does fine sharing treats and snacks.
She does well with other dogs who are welcoming and non-aggressive and has done excellent at doggy daycare. Ellie is playful and can be a bit dominant—she’s strong and usually wins tug-of-war! She is great with older kids.
Because of her high prey drive, Ellie will need a cat-free and bird-free home (including chickens). She loves to chase squirrels, rabbits, and birds—but the good news is she will come back when called.
Ellie loves:
  • Fetch and running in the yard
  • Chew toys (especially destroying stuffed ones)
  • Frozen kibble in ice
  • Riding in the car (though she’ll try to crawl up front!)
  • Looking out windows
  • Being your shadow — truly a velcro dog
She’s known to follow her foster mom everywhere… even into the shower! Ellie likes to “help” in the kitchen and will lay nearby while you cook. She begs briefly at mealtimes, then settles down.
Ellie is very active and playful during the day, making her a great match for someone with an active lifestyle. But after 7 p.m.? She turns into a total potato who just wants to cuddle until bedtime.
Affectionate, sweet, obedient, goofy, and happy — Ellie is still puppy-like, a little clumsy at times, and full of life. As much as she loves birds and squirrels, it’s people she longs to be with the most.

Ellie is ready for a forever home where she’ll never be overlooked again — just loved.

Ellie is up-to-date on all vetting, healthy, spayed and ready for adoption. Her adoption fee is $375.
