Hi guys! My name is Perseus, but I go by Percy. My foster mom also calls me Snoots, and she says it’s because I have the most adorable nose and little snaggle tooth-and I have to agree that I’m pretty cute! I'm an overall handsome, well settled and typical 5.5 year old male GSP. I LOVE running and chasing all the birds from the yard. Balls are also pretty cool toys and I’m learning that if I bring them back the humans will throw them for me! I’m really good at sharing toys with my foster sister and we love a good game of tug/chase. I am a good snuggler and love to be by your side, especially in the evenings. And if I want your attention, I'll boop you with my nose. What can I say, I'm a big flirt! And belly rubs....yes, please!
Car rides are a favorite too-who doesn’t love sticking their head out the window?! My foster mom and dad take me out and about on Friday nights and I love meeting all the new people. They call me a social butterfly as I haven’t met a stranger yet! I can run on a leash, but it takes some getting used to as all I want to do is chase birds and squirrels. I even saw a groundhog on our last run! I am not super vocal, but will bark or do a little howl to get your attention if I need food, water, bathroom break, or I'm just excited that you are home! I am good at balancing on my back legs, and my foster mom says I look like a little T-Rex when I do this.
My foster parents took me to a dog park the other night and I loved running around with all the other dogs and had everyone laughing at how excited I was to play and jump over the obstacles when running. I would definitely win the doggie Olympics for hurdles in Track and Field! Speaking of Olympics, have you seen those things called hurdles? I'd be pretty good at those, too, since I have tried jumping a four foot, chain link fence. My new home would need to have a taller, wooden privacy fence. There have been no issues with the side of my yard where the fence is wooden and taller. I would also love a big backyard so I can run off all of my energy and/or an active family who can run/hike/walk with me often. When I'm done running and romping, my favorite thing to do is sun myself. Some would say I'm recharging. :-)
I'm working on my house manners and have improved so much in just the few weeks I've been in foster care. My counter surfing and going after food in the trash can are so much better now. I'm super smart and know how to sit, shake and lay down, and I think I could learn just about anything else you throw at me. I have had zero accidents in the house, I'm crate trained and I don't guard my food during my meals.
I have so much love to give and absolutely can't wait to join my forever family. Could that be you? I am fully vetted, microchipped and neutered. I'm so excited to become your new best friend. My adoption fee is $375. If you're interested in being considered for my forever family, please complete an adoption application HERE. If you've already done that part, even for another dog, no need to complete the form again.
The next step is to email my foster mom, Beth, at firstname.lastname@example.org. I know there are some awesome families out there so be sure to tell her why you think I'd be the perfect fit in YOUR home. I'm so excited to meet you!
