Hey Everyone - Georgia's Violet has been adopted! Little Violet was picked up by animal control as an emaciated stray with a swollen face, injured tail, and her ears so painfully full of ticks that she didn't want to let the Vet touch them. Thank you Amanda and Chip for giving this girl a nurturing foster home - you literally saved her life and we're so grateful to you both! Violet is going to be living the dream with Deborah Kaplan and her husband on a 30-acre horse farm in Ocala, Florida and we're so happy for her. What a great way to start the day - Izzy is HOME! Her foster parents just can’t let her go and we couldn’t be happier 😊 Izzy (white) has separation and storm anxiety and had been returned to Humane Society who contacted SEGSP. Her new parents Tricia and Rich understand her needs and love her to pieces anyway. Having her canine sibling Tinkerbell around has helped as well. Tricia says Izzy is the sweetest little lady and a gentle soul and she is so thankful they are able to love on her forever. Congratulations Izzy and the Fisher family!
Buddy, aka Bo Bo from FL, has found his forever home! This was his last group hug with his small foster humans. His foster Mom Tanya said he was the perfect road trip buddy to meet his new family in SC. He was greeted by his forever family with love and acceptance, new toys and the most handsome collar. Thank you to his foster parents Tanya and Matt for finding his family. And congratulations to Buddy and the Yavorka family!
Jesse has found her forever home! She will have human siblings to play with and some GSP friends that live in the neighborhood. And as a huge bonus, her new family does exciting things like bike, jog, hike, camp, go to the beach each year and visit grandparents in the mountains. She’s already gone on walks around the neighborhood, a trip to Petsmart and met Santa! From her foster Mom Sarah: “Jesse Love’s watching cartoons with her kids and has plenty of people to snuggle in her new family!”
A huge thank you to Jesse’s foster parents Sarah and John for preparing her for this day. And congratulations to Jesse and the Chesney family! Bo has found his forever family!
He has a huge backyard with a lot of room to run around and his new family loves him already. Thank you so much to his foster Dad Nathan for evaluating him and finding the right home for Bo. Congratulations to Bo and the Rainey family! Winnie has found her forever home! Her new home put up a fence just for Winnie. They are also going to take her to basic obedience classes and look forward to getting their daily step count in by walking the Seminole County Trail with Winnie. Her new Dad works from home so she’ll be his office assistant and will also have young human siblings to play and cuddle with. Thank you to Winnie’s foster Mom Nikki for working so hard to find the right home for her. And congratulations to Winnie and the Rancourt family!
Coco has found his forever home (liver)! This beautiful young boy was surrendered to a KY shelter because he did not hunt. His new GSP sister Giselle isn’t quite sure what to make of this energetic boy, but Coco is trying. Thank you so much to his foster family, the Campbells, for preparing Coco for his forever home. And this day could not have happened without the help of Brother Wolf Animal Rescue who pulled Coco and temp fostered him. Congratulations to Coco and the Owen family! It’s a happy day! Mary Kay has found her forever home – right where she is with her foster family!
She was surrendered to a shelter at 8 years old when her owner was ill and couldn’t care for her. Thank you to our volunteer Jordan for temp fostering her and thank you, plus congratulations to the Flugman family for fostering and now adopting Mary Kay. From her Mom Susan: “Mary Kay is a velcro dog and very attached to me and my son Travis. She waits with Travis for his ride every morning and cheerfully greets him when he comes home. Mary Kay has a canine sister, Joey (who was a foster failure 10 years ago), and they get along well and enjoy hanging out together. Mary Kay loves sitting in the screened-in porch waiting for wildlife to appear - sometimes she sits still like a statue for a laughable amount of time - and enjoys running around the yard hunting for squirrels and chipmunks. Having two dogs is proving to be a positive experience and I am glad I am able to give these girls a comfortable, loving home.” YAY a very happy ending to the week! Brittany has found her forever home with Lara and Ivan and Athena! Brittany came to rescue with her 6 puppies and her foster family, who adores her, found a wonderful family that will love her as much as they do. Congratulations to the Diaz family (and Brittany) and thank you to Sandra and Bridgette for helping sweet Brittany on her path in life.
Gunner, in FL, has found his forever home...right where he is with his foster family! This sweet, gentle boy was picked up as a stray in FL in June with another dog and when his family came, they took the other dog and left Gunner. He also came to rescue with heartworms.
There are so many people to thank for Gunner's success in rescue – Mary McCaa for giving him his freedom ride and temp fostering, Glenda for fostering through his heartworm treatment (and her cats for somewhat tolerating Gunner), Cheryl, Mark, Michelle and Todd who for transporting him on a holiday weekend (Michelle and Todd drove 7.5 hrs each way – amazing), and Kyle and Carrie for fostering him until they fell in love and couldn't part. From his new Mom: "I think we knew right away that Gunner had found his forever home with us, but since we have finally made it official, here are some pictures of this sweet boy. Gunner has been the addition to our family we didn't even know we needed. He loves cuddles, couch naps, bike rides, his people and his new sisters! Big thank you to you and all the people who work to rescue these sweet animals and help them find their people." Congratulations Gunner and the Mosley family! Spencer has found his forever home! Thank you to his foster parents Kathy and JLaw as well as Casie and Savannah for helping with the drive to his new home in NC. And thank you also to his temp foster homes with Julie, Namrita, Mary and Susan. It sometimes does take a village...THANK YOU everyone and CONGRATS Holmes and Joe!
Rex (on left) has found his forever home! His new Mom Lauren says he's doing awesome and is a very smart little dude. He’s assimilated into the pack beautifully, is getting along great with his two canine siblings and 2-legged kiddos also and has even learned how to use the dog door and new commands "off", "leave it" and "in your bed!” Rex will be headed to a big race on Halloween and gets to switch off running with his Mom throughout the race. Very cool! We’re looking forward to those photos… Congratulations to Rex and his new family and a big thank you to his foster Dad Earl for helping him through heartworm treatment and finding his forever home. It’s a happy day!
Penelope, who has been in rescue since June of 2018 and on the website for many months without finding a home, has found her place in the world with her foster family!
Penelope came to rescue from an overcrowded shelter in NW Florida and was about to be euthanized when we were contacted. From her Mom Lisa: “After much consideration, thought, and discussion with my daughter, after all this time I don't think we will be able to part with our Sweet P and would love to adopt her. She has ended up adapting really well to our schedules and lifestyle and Penelope absolutely loves my daughter and her Grandma (my Mom)!!” Capri, now Maple, has found her forever home! A big thank you to the Shirley family for fostering Maple and our volunteer Laura for acting as her Adoption Coordinator. Maple was found by a Good Samaritan and after searching for her owners came to rescue for help. She is now safe and sound with the Styer family in TN with a wonderful life ahead of her. What a beautiful girl – it’s a happy day! Congratulations everyone!
Happy news for a Friday morning! Roxie has found her forever home!
Her foster Mom scoured many applications looking for the right family for Roxie that could handle her special needs since her early life was tragically abusive. With tears of happiness her foster Mom Vicky announced she found the perfect home for Roxie with the Kelley family. The Kelley home visit notes included words like gentle, understanding, patient, kind and impressive. Vicky said those words were spot on and it was an easy decision. From Vicky: “I know Roxie will continue to blossom into a confident GSP with them. They will continue to show Roxie what life is all about with her best interests in mind.” From Roxie’s new Mom: “We are so happy to get to give Roxie all the love she deserves.” Thank you Vicky for everything you’ve done for Roxie and congratulations Roxie and the Kelley family! Copper, fostered by our NC/SC State Coordinator Kristin, has decided he really loves his foster home so, yup, he’s staying right there. Forever! HAHAHA even our Coordinators aren’t immune to the foster fail syndrome!
Copper’s new human sister Gracie adores him and Copper shows his love in return by keeping her warm at night. Congratulations Kristin, Gracie and Copper! Mercedes and Lexi, our two precious seniors that are bonded and needed a home together, have hit jackpot!
They will not only have two loving parents but also a gorgeous house and yard to explore and relax in. Thank you Sydney for fostering these two beauties and congratulations to the Scott family! Sawyer was the last of Brittany’s 6 puppies to be adopted but he’s finally home!
Thank you Chelsea for fostering a puppy (not an easy task) and finding the right home for Sawyer. Congratulations to the Gregor family – Sawyer will have a big fenced yard and another GSP, Grady, to keep him company and teach him the ropes. Lucious has found his forever home! And what a road trip to get there! Thank you so much Alicia for fostering this handsome boy. And thank you to our volunteer Tammy for allowing Lucious to hang with her while she traveled all the way from Florida to NC to meet his new Dad. It was an adventure of a lifetime (awesome pics to prove it too)! Congratulations to Lucious and the Foley family!
Victoria in NC has found her forever home! She traveled to her new home in Florida with her foster family. A long trip, but lots of backseat cuddling made the trip go by faster. From her foster Mom Julie: "She did really well, was playing with her new doggie sister and got busy pointing lizards and watching the pond in her new yard! She will be so loved and have a perfect GSP life! Victoria was a pure joy to foster! Thank-you for letting us love on her for a little while. We will miss her!"
Thank you to the Decoskey family for fostering (and delivering) Victoria. And congratulations to the Gibson family, and of course Victoria – it's a happy day! Rosa, now Ivy Rose, has found her forever home! She will have a one-year-old GSP brother Griffin to play with and very parents that run, bike, go for long walks and hike mountains. And of course she will be loved, cuddled and kissed forever. What more could a puppy want? A huge thank you to Rosa’s foster Mom Taylor for taking such good care of Rosa and reviewing the MANY applications for Rosa – it was quite a job. Congratulations to the Kinch family!
It's no surprise that it didn't take Moose long to find his forever family – and just in time to be the ring bearer at his new parents' wedding next week! His foster Mom Paolina received sooo many applications from some truly amazing families. The Hopkins family had been checking our website several times a day anxiously waiting for Moose to be listed for adoption. Within minutes of his post being shared, they emailed his foster Mom with the most heartwarming description of why they wanted to adopt Moose and what his life would be like living with them. After reading the Hopkin's application and a few phone calls to them to learn more, Paolina did not need to look any further – she found Moose's forever home. Thank you Paolina for taking on a puppy foster (not an easy task) and Congratulations to Moose and the Hopkins family! Clifford, now Cletus, has found his family! We had so many wonderful families apply to adopt this adorable boy. His foster parents Macayle and Jon met with Mary, Donald and their dog Daisy yesterday and Clifford and Daisy hit it off – lots of running around and hunting lizards together. Clifford let everyone know this was the right family. Thank you Macayle and Jon for fostering Clifford – you did an awesome job preparing Clifford for this day.
Weasel (left), now Mosel, has found his forever home with the Reigle family! From his foster Mom Allie: "They are such a perfect fit. They are lovely people, really understand the GSP breed, and they love all of Willie's quirks. Their dog Haunts got along great with Willie. They are going to give Willie, soon to be Mosel, a very loving and happy home!" Thank you Allie for fostering Mosel and congratulations to the Reigle family!
Our sweet senior Bella has found her forever family! Bella has had a rough time finding the perfect family so we are super excited for her. Bella is thrilled that she has a young human sister that loves her and a Yorkie canine sibling who has accepted Bella and embraced her as part of the family. A huge thank you to Bella’s adoption coordinators Suzann and Joe for their very dedicated search for her family! Congratulations Bella and the Taylor family!
