Say hello to Johnny, a 5-year-old German Shorthaired Pointer with a heart full of love and a touch of playful mischief. Once a runaway, Johnny has settled beautifully into his foster home over the past two months and has proven himself to be one amazing dog!
Johnny is a calm, affectionate, and well-mannered gentleman. He knows his basic commands like “sit” and “get down,” and is learning to come when called. He walks wonderfully on a leash with his harness, rides perfectly in the car, and patiently waits by the door when it’s time for a walk. When his foster parents leave for work, Johnny relaxes on the couch and naps the day away — no accidents and no anxiety! He’s curious and clever — so clever, in fact, that he once figured out how to open cabinets and the refrigerator! (Don’t worry, his foster mom has since outsmarted him with child locks.) Johnny loves to play with his two foster brothers, chasing and wrestling in the yard, but his favorite thing in the world is snuggling up with his humans or other dogs. He’s a true “velcro dog” who thrives on companionship and love. Johnny would do best in a home where he isn’t left alone for long stretches of time and where he can have a furry sibling to play and cuddle with and doesn’t need to be kenneled during the day because he has good house manners while you’re away. His gentle nature and calm temperament also make him a great fit for families with children. If you’re looking for a loyal, loving, and easygoing companion who will stick by your side through everything, Johnny is your guy! He is up to date on vaccines, neutered and microchipped so his adoption fee is $375. Hi, I arrived at my foster home in August after being surrendered. My previous owners were told I had developed something called steroid-responsive meningitis by their local vet. Thankfully, that vet reached out to SEGSP Rescue, and an amazing team of volunteers transported me to my foster home in Charleston. The best news? I’ve been weaned off all my medications for several weeks and received a clean bill of health from the veterinarian — not just once, but twice! Both times my neurologist checked my bloodwork, it came back perfect! I live with two awesome foster siblings — Nola, a 5-year-old black roan GSP, and Grant, a 9-year-old yellow Lab. We have a wonderful routine that I love! Every morning, Grant wakes the house up around 6 a.m., and we all head outside for a good yard run before breakfast. I’m very food-motivated but not food-aggressive. I’ll sit and wait patiently for my food until I’m told “OK” — then it’s go time! When I see my foster mom lacing up her sneakers, I can’t help myself — I bark with excitement (sometimes so loudly that I set off her Apple Watch “Loud Environment” alert 😆). I love our daily jogs, but she says I need to work on my leash manners and “quartering” — I just have such a strong prey drive! There are deer everywhere in this neighborhood, and I’m convinced that if she’d just let me, I could finally catch one. And don’t even get me started on squirrels and birds! During the day, my foster dad works from home, so we spend a lot of time together. I’m an active puppy who always wants to be near my people! I love snuggling with Nola, playing tug of war, de-fluffing toys, or chewing on a good bone. My foster dad trained me on the invisible fence, and I learned the boundaries super fast. He even built a doggie door for us, and I’ve mastered going in and out whenever I please. I’m proud to say I’ve never had an accident in the house, not even when I was sick for a couple of days. If I need to go out, I let my foster parents know — I’m a smart girl like that! At night, the three of us pups are tucked into our kennels around 10:30 p.m. with a big treat, and I sleep soundly through the night. Some other fun facts about me: 🐾 I always keep an eye on you — even when you think I’m not watching! 🐾 I love giving kisses and getting belly rubs. 🐾 Loud noises don’t faze me — thunder or fireworks? Bring it on! 🐾 My foster dad thinks I have great potential to be an amazing field dog. I am a happy, healthy pup who is UTD on vaccines, microchipped, and spayed so my adoption fee is $375. If you think you’re the one for me and want a loyal, fun, active adventure buddy for life, please fill out an adoption form |
