Hi, everyone! I’m Derby, an 8-month-old GSP. My foster mom says I’m a true gem.
When I was just a little pup, I hurt my leg, and the vet had to take it from me. I don’t let that keep me down, though! I’m a happy girl with lots of energy who likes to run and play. I am house trained (although if I get really excited, I might dribble a little bit) and crate trained. I know sit and no, and I’ll come if you call my name. I walk well on a leash, too.
I would do best in a home with another dog because I love playing and snuggling with friends. Without my fourth leg, I’m also a bit clumsy, so I might knock over things in the house. I am not suited for a house with children under six. The vet says I’m 100-percent healthy, but I will need to maintain a healthy weight so that my three legs don’t have to work even harder than they already do. So, I'll need a family who keeps me exercised and feeds me right so I can stay trim!
I have a few quirks that my foster parents think are just the cutest. I eat my food laying down. What can I say? I like a relaxing meal. I also really like to start drama with my foster fur brother. If the old dog is just lounging and snoozing, I’m on my way to lick his face and play. He likes it, though.
I am an intact puppy (under a year old), so my adoption fee is $575 which includes a $100 deposit for my spay. You will need to have me spayed when I turn one year old. When you do, SEGSP Rescue will refund your $100 deposit. I have been fully vetted, temperament tested, and microchipped, so I think I'm a steal! The folks at SEGSP Rescue think I'm going to be quite the popular lady, so please be patient as my foster mom works through emails and applications!
Hi, my legal name is Fritz but my friends call me Fritzy! I am around 6 years old and am a strapping lad at 70 pounds. I have spent a fair amount of my pre-rescue life living in an outside kennel and had some serious fleas when I came to rescue. I still have some scars from those flea bites on my head, but if you ask me, I'm still a darn handsome fellow!
I love my foster family's big backyard! I love to run and fetch and smell all the smells and nap in the grass when I'm good and tired. I try to play with my foster brothers, but they are "seniors" (whatever that means) and they aren't interested in my young boy antics. I also love my people. They take me on golf cart rides and running with the ATVs. I would do anything to make my people happy.
I am learning good doggie manners and want a family that will continue to work on those with me. I’m working on stay and sit. My foster parents say my leash manners are also a work in progress. I love to lay my head in your lap while you're eating. My foster parents have told me that's not okay, but I just don't understand! I know that's where the food is, and I love food! I even pretend I haven't had food in the hopes that I might get some more! I've got a great nose and I can find food in all of the places where it hides. I will do ANYTHING for a yummy treat!
I do have some dislikes. I am not a fan of thunderstorms. When I am scared I like to snuggle with you as close as possible. It makes me feel safe. I have met cats, but not up close. They say I have a thing called "prey drive." I just think finding and chasing little things is fun!
My ideal family would have plenty of room for me to be active and would want to be active with me. I can stay in my crate but would prefer to be as close as possible to my people. I do like dogs, so I would like one of those to play with. I love my foster dad and he says I will make an excellent family member. A little bit of patience and lots of love is all I ask for. I will do anything for you.
I'm neutered, up to date on my vaccines, and microchipped so my $375 adoption fee is a bargain! If you want to be my forever family, please fill out an adoption application if you haven't already and email my foster dad Darrin at firstname.lastname@example.org.
