In Memory of
our beloved GSPs
2017
Another reminder of how important heartworm prevention is… Hannah came to rescue in 2011. She was found on the side of the road and was riddled with heartworms. Our late founder Beth Cochran fostered Hannah and treated her for heartworms. Hannah was already a mature GSP when she was found, so it took its toll on her. After suffering through her treatment, she was finally healthy and was adopted by Heather, now SEGSP’s Transport Coordinator. Hannah lived until 2017 and was spoiled with love and happiness by her mom and brother Charlie (also a SEGSP alum). Not all heartworm cases have a happy ending like Hannah. Please keep you dog on heartworm preventative meds – the cost of preventatives is as low as 12 cents or less a day (generic). It’s cheaper for dogs weighing less than 51 lbs. If your dog gets heartworms, the treatment costs between $500 - $2000+ depending on the severity. Bottom line…it’s cheaper to give preventative meds. Rest in peace sweet Hannah – you will be forever loved. #InMemoryOfHannah #southeastgsp #SEGSP #GSP Comments are closed.
