Our sweet 2013 Alumna Cocoa passed away at the age of 11. She started her time in rescue with our longtime coordinator Brendan who picked her up from the shelter and ran her 10 miles. She no doubt thought she had hit the jackpot. She was adopted by her family later that year and it was a perfect fit. Our hearts go out to the Hammond/Megic family. There is no doubt Cocoa left this world happy and loved beyond measure – run free pretty girl!
With deep sadness we said goodbye to our sweet old lady Toots who was being fostered by our very caring volunteer John in SC.
Toots had been treated for a mini-stroke, hypothyroidism and was diagnosed yesterday with leukemia/bone cancer. She was very uncomfortable and hadn’t eaten for 2 days, so the Vet recommended we end her pain. Toots and John developed a deep bond during her time in rescue and he will miss her dearly.
From John: “To all that sent Toots and I prayers and well wishes. THANK YOU!! Toots was my first Foster. I had her for 2 mo. and fell in love with her. She climbed over the rainbow bridge last night. She knew I was with her till the end.” Toots came to rescue with her sister Pearl in January. Their story is very sad. They were hunting dogs and their elderly owner gave them to a man to take care of. When they could no longer hunt, that man surrendered them to SEGSP.
Please keep her foster parents in your thoughts and prayers.
