Hank

We are so sad to announce the passing of our 2014 alumnus Hank (formerly Dan).  Hank came to rescue in December of 2014 after a life of living outside, alone, with very little human contact.  He went through heartworm treatment and was a true survivor. His foster mom Kristin found the perfect home for him, and Hank spent 8 wonderful years with the LaPorte family, filled with love and adventure. 
 
From his mom Stephanie, “Just wanted to let you know Hank just collapsed and died.  It was all so sudden – probably a cardiac event the vet said.  We had such a great day hiking and swimming. He even cuddled with me this am which he doesn’t always do. Maybe he knew or didn’t feel good. He was the best and sweetest boy. I guess some things I would describe him as is goofy- when he got the zoomies, he reminded me of a kangaroo jumping around. He loved his crate or Phil's closet.  He always wanted to go in the truck with us - didn't matter if he got out - just loved riding. He always would go right to the back of our suburban because we think he was afraid he'd get left.  I am still in shock – he was the best boy. I am heartbroken. We lost Dixie, Duke and now Hank since last fall (plus one of our cats last month).   We miss him so much but know Dixie was probably waiting for him at the rainbow bridge.”
 
Goodbye is not forever, and goodbyes are not the end.
They simply mean I’ll miss you until we meet again.
