Beau - FL

1/11/2021

Picture
Beau is looking for a new home. He is a 10 month old playful puppy who loves the boat and dog beach! Beau enjoys mental stimulation, like puzzles, and playing “find it” with hidden treats.

Beau is great with other dogs - big or small! Beau is a puppy in the sense that he needs to be told to “settle” and leave his dog sister alone. Sometimes even that is unsuccessful with Beau!
Beau guards food and therefore must be fed separated from other dogs and people. He also doesn’t like to be touched when eating. Feeding treats isn’t an issue as long as it’s structured. Beau also resource guards random items (dish towel, socks, etc.) but plays nicely with his toys. Beau has begun behavior modification for his aggressiveness and is responding well to positive reinforcement training practices.

He is a fantastic running buddy and enjoys a long walk (3-5 miles) every evening. He is a playful, energetic (and sometimes stubborn) GSP. He loves to play fetch with a ball or chase with another dog.

Beau is fully crate trained. He sleeps in his crate and goes in it when we are away from the home. Beau is house trained and has never been home alone outside his crate. He knows many basic commands and is obedient when praised - and is highly food motivated. He is AKC Star Puppy certified and loves to continuously train and learn new commands. He has a very keen sense of smell so he would also enjoy practicing scent work or even agility. Beau has no health issues and is up to date on all vaccines. He is neutered and microchipped.

Beau’s perfect home would be with a highly active family, often home, and a lot of room for him to run. Just like any typical GSP, he requires a lot of daily exercise and attention. Beau is always on the go and loves to have the attention on him, such as giving him tasks/training commands throughout the day. Beau would thrive continuing training - obedience, scent work or agility. His home would also include an owner who has experience with food aggression and resource guarding behaviors.

If you’re interested in adopting Beau, please contact his owners at gspbeau@gmail.com

Note: the owner is requesting a $500 rehoming fee.
